5. Highly Quotable
"I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum and I'm all out of bubblegum,"

and skeletal faced lizard aliens are fun too.

"you look like your face fell in the cheese dip back in 1956."

Frank: "I've walked a white line my entire life, I'm not about to screw that up. "
Nada: "White line's in the middle of the road, that's the worst place to drive."

When the main hero's name is "Nada" you can't expect much more than a good laugh from a film.

13. Actually, you can expect some heavy-handed SYMBOLISM...
Kind like when the protagonist's name is NEO.

16. I think that the dialogue in "They Live" whooped the pants off of "Matrix"
Then again the dialogue in most disney films whoop the pants off of the dialogue in "The Matrix"

3. Awesome premise, despite the cheez
Though at moments its production might seem ham-fisted, the story line is as timely as ever. Sleep...consume...obey...

Who would have figured Rowdy Roddy Piper starring in a sleeper subversive flick?

Cheesie 80s stuff but great all the same!

had alot of funny 1 liners too. One scene I remember was when Rody walked into the bank with the glasses on. That was funny stuff

The premise on the other hand was not B at all, its bloody brilliant. Would love to see a 90s update

10. Cripplefight!
I love "they live." In fact, back in college, despite the disapproval of a few snobs I included it in a fundraiser film festival I was running, and it went over pretty well (along with "The cat from Outer Space," another classic noone thought would be any good.)

A bit of trivia you may not know:

The knock-down drag-out fight between Timmy and Jimmy in South Park's Cripple Fight episode is move-for-move taken from this movie.

12. They Live
(MCA) 1988 Directed / Screenplay / Music - John Carpenter

"Carpenter's great anti-Republican / George Bush science fiction movie was released on the eve of the November 1988 presidential election. They Live didn't do much business and we all know how the election turned out. Aliens secretly rule America as more people are forced to live on the streets. Characters put on special sunglasses that reveal subliminal messages (everywhere) like "Obey," "Stay Asleep," and "No Independent Thoughts."

"It was based on a short story by Ray Faraday Nelson"

Info from The Psychotronic Video Guide by Michael J. Weldon, published 1996

GREAT MOVIE!!!
