Pat Robertson is a good example of Xianity |
|
As good an example of Xianity as Osama bin Laden is an example of Islam.

10. Amazingly, Miles O'Brien actually called him on this on the air today |
|
Said something like, "I'm pretty sure he's violating a commandment here." My jaw was on the floor at the sight of someone on CNN actually pointing out RW hypocrisy

16. Ah, but the commandments only applied to Hebrews |
|
If you read the Bible, right after Moses dies and they head into the promised land, the Israelites proceeded on a God-aided orgy of killing, assassinations and other terrorism, in the goal of claiming Caanan for themselves. I am sure ol' Pat is taking this as his justification....

5. not of the CHRISTIANITY based on the teachings of JESUS OF NAZARETH... |
|
i don't know what, or who, or whom, pat robertson's christiniaty is based on ... but i am sure it is not based on the teachings of JESUS OF NAZARETH.
Pat Robertson is dead wrong. In the same way that George Bush, Condoliza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and others are dead wrong ... they all may be claiming to be christians. they are all so far away from true christianity it is uncanny.

7. you are right ... and it was "St. Augustine" sinner until his conversion |
|
who bid goodbye to the teachings of Christ and inserted his own interpretation of the teachings of God into that christian branch that we today know as the Catholic Church.

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than going to a garage makes you a car.

12. Is there some sort of "special protection" at work |
|
If you hang a cross around your neck are you allowed to go on the airwaves and call for assassinations, etc. and not get so much as your hand slapped. My god, can you imagine if this was a Muslim or someone simply spouting a violent political position?? They would be dragged off to Camp X-ray!! Why is this not looked at as one would look at a Tim McVay getting a microphone to preach death?? Then, again, I wonder if Pat just accidentally spouted off one of this regime's secret plans???

14. I just want to thank you... |
|
for NOT referring to him as Christian, which he clearly is not.
Despite the recognition that these RW loony fundies are anything but Christian, I repeatedly see DUers lumping them all together. While I'm not at all religious, I was raised Christian and I certainly respect those who try to live the example of Christ. It upsets me tremendously that some DUers refuse to differentiate, even when reminded. While these hypocritical RWers may self refer as "Christian," that is no excuse for DUers to refer to them as such. Thanks to you for not doing so.

18. Shouldn't the Pope weigh in on this Robertson Fatwa? |
|
I mean, if Smirky thinks Gawd and Robertson are telling him to 'off' Chavez, don't we need to have this Fatwa confirmed by the Nazi Pope, too?
