Grain of salt dept.: Was Bush talked out of meeting with Sheehan?
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 11:17 AM by BurtWorm
This would confirm that Bush's advisers are idiots--but could they really be even more idiotic than the Bush boy himself?

Breaking News: (8-23-05 1:39AM EST) Sources close to The Dilby News Monitor tell Dilby, the day before Cindy Sheehan left to attend to her mother, President Bush wanted to meet with her and create a media blitz. Bush had seen the public outcry and he almost gave in to the anti-war activist, but his closest advisors decided it would be best for Bush not to meet with the grieving mother because the far-left would use meeting against Republicans in upcoming elections. In addition, Michael Moore was to use the footage of the meeting between Bush and Sheehan to revive his agenda in order to help boost Democratic votes in the 2008 Presidential Election. Moore has had embedded cameras and/or correspondents just in case Sheehan met with President Bush. <END OF CONFIRMED TIP> Source: White House Insider, DM3

1. So, they sent him out of town, just in case he had
second thoughts. The WH handlers didn't want a repeat of a drunk Nixon making a surprise 5 am sojourn to the campsite of bewildered anti-war demonstrators in Washington. Recall that was in 1972.

2. I call bullshit.
This was clearly a planned leak of a lie to make Bush appear to be more sympathetic.

4. I'll bet you're right.
Bush never gave a shit in his life. Why start now?

Also, since when did Republicans ever worry about what the "far left" would do? I mean since they figured out how to own every inch of the government?

6. I second that call.
Reminds me of September 11, 2001, when Bush "wanted" to go back to D.C. but his security detail WOULDN'T LET HIM.

Who's in charge here? For someone who likes to preen and wear presidential seals all over himself (belt buckle, cowboy boots, biking socks, etc.), Bush does not appear to call his own shots.

He really, really wanted to meet with Cindy. Only he didn't. Is that the message?

7. Reminds me of that "what about my middle class tax cut?"
And the Cheney response of "We won the mid-terms, this is our due."

Utter crap.

3. I'm not sure meeting with Sheehan before she left to attend to her mother
would have been the bonanza Bush allegedly thought it would be.

I maintain that the smartest thing Bush could have done was meet with Sheehan immediately. He blew it. It's way too late for a meeting now.

10. Nope don't buy it.
Unless the advisors are the ones who make all the decisions. Which could be true now that you think of it. That would give time for * to go biking and take naps and read whatever the hell they are trying to tell me that illiterate ape is reading and to snort coke and drink Bourbon all the live long day.
