My first LTTE: Please Be Gentle
Can They/You Answer the Question?

It seems that over the last couple of weeks, Cindy Sheehan has been Swiftboated by the right-wing pundits on a nightly basis. They fabricated and/or manipulated quotes to make her sound like a loon. They’re gnashing their teeth and thrashing about throwing insults and lies hoping that something will stick against the wall, in an effort to somehow take the moral “high ground”. One thing this shows is that the pro-war supporters have no argument that holds water against this woman. Also, this shows the depths at which these pro-war folks will go in order to “support the troops”. Why would they do that to the mother of one of our heroes?
The real problem with Cindy Sheehan is her question to the President is the one question that cannot be answered. “For what noble cause did my son die?” Can you answer this question? Can the right-wing media pundits answer this question? You say WMD’s? Nope, weren’t there and according to CNN’s “Dead Wrong” documentary, the Bush administration knew that before going to the U.N. and getting authorization from Congress.. And yes, U.N. inspectors WERE in Iraq finding nothing right before the invasion. You say to bring freedom and democracy to the Iraqi people? Nope, sorry, Islamic law is now being installed and women will essentially have no rights whatsoever. That won’t work for an answer unless you like the 19th century’s version of American democracy. Besides, in a recent Washington Post article, the White House has admitted that they felt from the beginning that bringing freedom and democracy to Iraq was an “unreality”.
Recently, the President has been pushing hard justification number 734. 9-11. Simply put by our President himself, “We’ve had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th.” So take that argument and eighty-six that right now.
Terrorists did not exist in any measurable form in Iraq before the invasion. There has been no tie between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. In fact, Osama Bin Laden hated Saddam Hussein and his secular nation. Now, terrorists have flooded in from Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey and Iran and are killing our soldiers on a daily basis.
So to the pro-war folks reading this, for what noble cause have nearly two thousand brave soldiers died? For what noble cause have twenty thousand soldiers been injured for life? For what noble cause have one hundred thousand innocent civilians have died? For what noble cause have we spent nearly two hundred billion dollars been spent?
Why are we there?

1. Too long. The shorter it is the more likely they are to print it.
This is op-ed length.

2. It might be a bit too wordy
depending on the LTTE rules of the particular paper but a simple "Bush lied" ain't going to get in there either.

3. I love it -- I wouldn't change a thing except
a typo in the 2nd to last sentence -- "have we spent...been spent". Great letter!!!
