Pat Robertson at Norfolk Airport Collage
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 02:15 PM by Must_B_Free
Twice a week as I go out and come back I have to see a 3 wall-section tribute to Pat Robertson, the 700 Club and Regent University. I am talking a GIANT floor to ceiling collage of Pat's trucks and the "saveges" in India he is "saving".

Should Norfolk Airport be foreced to remove this? Robertson is a religious fundamentalist who supports calls of illegal murder for foreign heads of state; hardly the type of thing people are comfortable seeing.

What should one do? Who do I complain to?

It looks like various local businesses pay for the wall space; other corps are represented. Should Robertson be allowed to buy this wall space given his controversial views?

1. He should have the same opportunity
to buy commercial advertising space as oh.... say Satan.

It should be presented as advertising and not "art".

2. Where is it located?
I too, have to drive down Indian River almost daily and usually hit the light right in front of the cult complex.

3. Are you saying that local businesses pay for his wall space or that he
as a local 'businessman' (and he is a huge businessman including his gold ventures in Africa) pays for his own space. If he pays, there may not be an argument. If the city paid and/or pays - there is a strong argument to raise a fuss.

5. He and other local businesses pay for this ad space.

There are ads from Northrop Grumann, Liebherr and Aliquip among others...

I think he has a right, but I think the airport should also have the right to distance themselves from him for these aggregious comments. I don't know why they would want to keep that stuff up there, given what he has said.
