Phased withdrawl from Iraq. All troops out before Christmas 2005.
Begin working on a national healtcare policy immediately...and let Bill Clinton do what his administration couldn't do thanks to the Rethugs.
Commit to tweek Social Security but to maintain it essentially in tact.
Recind or revision of bankruptycy laws and finance rate ceilings on all credit card debt.
Rescind Bush's tax cuts which have not helped the economy but have burdened generations to come with huge deficits. Increase taxes on the upper 2% non-earned income. Reduce income taxes on working Americans by at least 10% up to incomes of 50,000 and by 5% for incomes above 50,000 up to 150,000 and by 3% for incomes above that.
Legislated PROFIT ceilings on oil companies and other utilities or take them all over and run by Federal government.
Re-regulate the airline industries with tough standards for safety and service routes.
Scuttle the "No Child Left Behind" program and increase monies to Headstart elementary education. (The first six years of education are the most important.) Put more money and PR into education in the various trades and crafts...we are losing ground world-wide in these areas.

4. more generally, what we need is a party committed to . . . |
|
- compassion, - peace, - fiscal responsibility, - integrity in government, - honest elections, - environmental protection, - civil rights and civil liberties, - the needs of working people, - restoring citizen authority over corporations, - re-opening the 9/11 investigation, - economic growth through new energy and environmental technologies, and - REAL national security and foreign policies based on cooperation rather than confrontation . . .
a platform committed to these principles would win walking away . . .
