Rolling Stones - Sweet NeoCon lyrics
You ride around your white castle, On your little white horse
You lie to your people, and blame it on your war of course

You call yourself a Christian, I call you a hypocrite
You call yourself a patriot, well I think you’re full of shit

Oh, sweet Neo Con, What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con, Is it time for the atom bomb?

You parade around in costume, Expecting to be believed
But as the body bags stack up, We believe we’ve been deceived

The horror you’ve unleased, Will backfire with more grief
When will you ever learn, Sweet Neo Con, as the world burns?

Oh, sweet Neo Con, What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con, Is it time for the atom bomb?
Oh, sweet Neo Con, What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con, Is it time to drop the bomb?

Additional verses:

How come you’re so wrong?
My sweet neo-con, where’s the money gone, in the Pentagon.

It’s liberty for all, democracy’s our style, unless you are against us, then it’s prison without trial.

1. Thank you!
I was wondering when some anti-war songs would hit the air waves! Music is a very strong tool....

3. Wow
Had seen a couple lines of this song a few weeks ago and then seen rumors of Mick minimizing the anti-* nature of this song, so this was far stronger than I had anticipated.

Yay.

4. Good to see there's still some "Street Fighting Man" left in the guys
I wasn't necessarily going to buy the CD before I heard about this track, but now I probably will.

5. Yes, by all means eat it up...You must be, I'm guessing around 24?

I love mid day controversy, when I'm bored like today...

"Bring It ON"!!!

Awww now you won't ... Let me throw this at you...when has Jagger and his 400 million dollar fortune, ever shown an ounce of caring about the poor, refugees, wars, the killing and dying...until it's a popular trend worldwide and it'll sell tickets just in time for their tour? When?

17. Off by half (re my age)
As far as "Sir Mick" and his fortune goes -- you're right, he may be an unlikely mouthpiece, but I'll take my "protest music" wherever I can get it. And the media sure has covered this more than they would a stray anti-war song by, say, Radiohead.

6. Too bad that the "Sweet NeoCons..."
Are pretty much the only ones who can afford tickets to Mick's shows.

I guess that's why he made sure to say that it wasn't aimed at Bush.

7. I still don't get all the Stones-bashing here recently.
There have been threads bashing Mick for denying the song was specifically about Bush, and other more-recent threads bashing the Stones for not playing the song on the opening night of their tour.

Isn't it enough that they wrote the song and include it on their most recent album?

At least they are willing to write a song about the admin's misdeeds.

13. Then waffle and dissemble about it
And say that it wasn't really aimed at them.

What courage!

18. Who said they had to have courage
when they come for their tour here? Where are all the people that wrote protest songs in the past and can still play and record? Where are they?

19. Some protest song
As soon as he was pressed about it, it became "I'm sorry, I didn't really mean it."

14. Is it really enough? It was a ploy to sell tickets, once scolded, they
Edited on Tue Aug-23-05 04:06 PM by Zinfandel
backed down like whipped puppies...They don't want to lose a single dollar for what they say they "believe", it's typical Mick, complete bullshit...it was for pupblicity, don't you get it? A way for them to be "outrageous" like their real rebels living in their mansions and never say or hear a word until.... Tour time!!! And as always with the gullible, it worked!!!!

Now they won't even play the song...maybe in California, or some other place once the tickets have been sold and they won't lose a buck.

You don't see the phoniness, if you know their history and their, you become aware of their constant self promotions and staged bullshit...

Nothing wrong with trying to make more money...but at times it's completely seems shameless & distasteful...

15. They know what side their bread's buttered on
And like I said earlier, the Stones know that "Sweet Neocons" make up a large portion of those who can actually afford tickets to their shows.

16. Ameriquest is giving tickets to the Stones shows to only good republicans!
I think Guv Musclehead received a dozen private box tickets from his huge republican donor and Stones sponsor Ameriquest... A 100% republican donator!!!

Republicans don't want the song played!
