G. Gordon Liddy on Robertson's call to assassinate Chavez - Faux |
|
Coming up next.
All afternoon, Faux has been framing Chavez as "Washington's problem" and assassination of a head of state as a viable and acceptable policy option.

5. He's already told his listeners the best way to take out federal agents... |
|
(shoot for the head, I believe he said), so why not Chavez as well. G. Gordon Liddy is a cheap thug who would be blundering through a post on free republic today, were it not for the fame afforded him by Watergate. Think about that -- he's famous for being a democracy-subverting asshole. No wonder the right likes him.

6. Guess Liddy wouldn't think it unfair if a foreign Gov't tryed to kill Bush |
|
Right? Disgree with your policy. We might take you out. But they might take your boy out too. Isn't that fair?

If it's a viable and acceptable policy option, for the US, then it's a viable and acceptable policy option for other countries as well.
Faux might want to be careful for what they wish for.

11. Actually, Israel made a public statement to that effect last year |
|
I wish I could find it quick, but I'm sure it's hiding in the DU archives.
They announced that they felt assasination was a viable option even if it was undertaken in "friendly" countries.

Faux: Mr L, Robertson said what is on the minds of a lot of people in the government, are we doing any planning?
L: CIA probably has contingency plans to destabelize, but not to assassinate.
Faux: Rummy was asked today, "we don't do it". Do we not do it because it backfired?
L: No, if we were at war with Columbia, he would be a legit target. Remember Diem? Difficult to be a political and reigious leader.
F: How much of a problem is Chavez?
L. Big, but we cannot go around the world assassinating leaders.
F: Oil.
L. Oil is fungable. Situation should be left to the markets. Intervention invites disaster.
F. What should happen to Robinson?
L: Up to his constituents.
F; Should he be chastized publicly?
L: Its a free country. But he'd should not go to Venezuala or Spain or other countries where he could be extridited. Or he could be kidnapped off the street, highly unlikely.
F: Like Muslim clerics in Italy 2 years ago (smirking).
L: Exactly.
F: Liddy, a syndicated radio talk show host.
(...and a convictec rethug felon).

To those on the left, think of taking out Chavez as a late term abortion. That will make you feel more comfortable.
Robinson's right, we need to take out Chavez.

When the smiling geek said Robertson has separating his political views from his religious ones, Jesse should have noted it was done in the context of his religious tv show.
