So what will happen to Pat?
I know his comments were condemed or something by the Administration. But will that be it, obviously we can be cynical... but what do you think will be the end of this? Is it over already?

3. I think it's a two day story, maybe.
Nothing will happen to him, IMO.

There may be some half-assed "apology" from him, but that's it.

I wish I could be more optimistic, but I can't.

7. maybe he will just have a heart attack or plane crash or....
perhaps a stroke...maybe he will be assassinated himself..or not...but something will happen to him...he has just gone way too far this time....something will happen to him....something to divert the attention completely from his remarks...and turn it to a more compassionate view...most easily done in a eulogy.

14. Yup. You got it.
The people who have sent him money will continue to do so. The people who haven't, won't.
Those who think he's a godly man will continue to believe that. Those who think he's a cheap conman in preacher's robes will continue to believe that too.
And so it goes.

12. To Pat? Nothing
To his supporters? Nothing. To any Republican, regardless of whether they make it a point to denounce Robertson publicly or secretly cozy up to him? Nothing. To any Democrat who dares breathe a word against Robertson? Swift, savage and total demagoguery, Mighty Republican Wurlitzer style.

13. It's already taken care of
NPR had a "christian conservative comedian" on making jokes about how Robertson's statement that Chavez should be "taken out" was taken all out of context - what he meant was that government agents should wine and dine him. Then he went on and made some idiotic jokes about Jesus never showing up for a picnic with any food.

Who knows? A Christian comedian is a contradiction in terms. At any rate, old Pat's comments are being trivialized, and that's the important thing, right?

I'm a pig ignorant moron, so I have neither the knowledge nor ability to narrow it down to a passage in the USC or similar.

36. assuming you're right
to charge Robertson (other than with being one of the world's biggest assholes), you'd have to prove he made a "threat" -- but he didn't threaten Chavez, he stated his opinion (an amoral, reprehensible opinion, but an opinion nonetheless), that the US govt should "take out" Chavez. I don't see that as a threat. If it is, then free speech is in big trouble.

It's being selectively enforced. If anyone on the left had said something similar they'd be getting raped in prison by now.

31. He'll be suitably handled when the Lord takes him home
And I think that goes for whichever Lord (above or below) you think he's devoted to.

Other than that the cynic in me says His Odiousness will live to a ripe old age counting his money and spewing venom. The best we can hope for is that the majority of his followers will eventually see him for what he truly is.
