Road Rage: It happened in Manhattan
http://www.wnbc.com/traffic/4886925/detail.html

I was there. It was a very frightening scene. We were literally maybe 15 feet away (I was buying a soda at 39th and Broadway) and yes, I happened to see that half-naked dude fleeing towards 39th and 6th (Where he was captured). We thought it was a robbery (It did involve a loud bang and thought we saw a gunshot), but it was a very stupid road rage. Yeah, I also happened to see at least two injured people, but the police had to get us to back off and eventually disperse.

That was very scary scene, believe me.

I was wondering earlier if any DU'ers knew what happened, so I checked the local news, and it's the top story on all New York outlets.

7 Injured When SUV Jumps Midtown Curb, Officer Dragged

POSTED: 3:52 pm EDT August 23, 2005
UPDATED: 6:38 pm EDT August 23, 2005

NEW YORK -- Seven people, including a police officer, were injured Tuesday when a SUV jumped the curb and struck several pedestrians in Midtown Manhattan.

None of the injuries were considered serious.
Two people are under arrest.

The incident was reportedly triggered by an argument between two drivers at the intersection of 41st Street and Broadway, near Times Square.

The argument was witnessed by a police officer, who pulled over a black Honda SUV. When the driver handed the officer identification, a white powder resembling cocaine reportedly fell to the floor.

4. The link worked okay for me . . .
Very scary, indeed.

Lucky that no one was seriously injured (or so the news article says).

Glad you are okay, Hawkeye-X!
