Marine Corps. My husband's a retired Marine. The Marine Drill Sergeants are made as tough as nails, IMO, there's no better. However, the role R. Lee Ermey is continuing to *milk* from "Full Metal Jacket" is a DISTORTION of most of the Marine Drill Sergeants.

Their goal is to break down the individuals and then build up a team. They could NOT accomplish the above by behaving as a pure unadulterated asshole as the role Ermey seemingly worships.

In mine, my husbands and numerous other Marines and Family Members, Ermey only entertains SOME within the Field Grade and General Officer Ranks. The Company Grade and Enlisted Marines KNOW that such a character in real life would not survive, much less excel in the Corps. Many of us consider this arrogant former Marine's continued "role playing" an embarrassment to the high standard of our beloved Marine Corps.

As a matter of fact. Emrey's character got his "shit blown away" in the movie. Feel free to remind the Right Wing Chickenhawks who continue to idolize this bizarre "shell of a man", that in or out of the Miltary Service, being a horse's ass 24/7 is not good for one's health.
