Aren't Religious Rightwingers The True "Arrogant Elite?"
After all, they think they know what is "morally correct" for the rest of us and want to use governmental power to force everyone to live according to their insanity.

They control the Presidency, the Congress and most of the state legislatures.

And yet the "Ivory Tower" intellectuals are the supposed elites who are constantly attacked in the Media. Even though they control nothing except for some college curriculi.

What's wrong with this picture?

3. If we got enough Democratic pols
to use the term "Arrogant Fundamentalist Elite" every time they discussed Robertson, Falwell, Dobson, Bauer, etc., we might actually make some headway in appealing to disaffected lower middle class voters who right now vote against their own self interests.

6. Turn their language against them. I think it will work! But not just the
Robertsons and Falwells, but all the neocons who pander to religious fears. That would include our Whimperor in Chief!

2. Well I at least agree that they are truly arrogant...
their mind-set leaves no room for debate or compromise and any government based on faith instead of reason quickly deteriorates into a repressive (scary) regime. I don't know about you, but I'm starting to pray for a new Jim Jones for them to follow like lemmings.

4. Hey- every time I hear a Republican talk about the middle of the country,
they call it "the REAL America", and the people living in it "the REAL Americans".

If that's not arrogant and elitist, I don't know what is.

8. They always look down their nose at you
Seriously, I have enough religious rightwinger friends and co-workers (and even some family) to recognize their pomposity. Yes, they are polite and outwardly respectful enough, but they have terrible poker faces: I can see their disgust and self-righteousness.

Here's something I saw that made me want to cry and barf at the same time: sitting at lunch, I was listening to two co-workers talking. One was relating his days in college. Apparently, in a biology class, the professor was teaching evolution. My co-worker, in the most disgustingly smug display of arrogance and pride I've ever seen, cheerfully detailed how elated he was when some (religious zealot friend of his) walked in (presumably uninvited) and placed a Bible on the front desk for all to see. Apparently, this loathful turd with nothing better to do turned to the class and just smiled. Of course the impact was even more exaggerated because the interruption stoped the teacher, drawing even more intention to this peddler of "intelligent design" (or whatever feces-euphemism they've come up with for literal Biblical interpretation to oust science).

I've had more than one person tell me stories of being at a funeral (yes, a funeral) for a close friend or family member, and and some worthless person will actually come up and say, "I'm sorry for your loss, but you know is going to hell because they were ". How awful is that? What a way to console somebody in their time of mourning, to remind them that they're going to hell.

Blech. Make me sick.

9. Not to mention that the right wing hides its own "Ivory Tower,"
far from where the freepers can see. And the right-wing intellectuals think far worse of the GOP constituency than a liberal ever could. We, at least, think they deserve the truth. AEI, et. al., think that they deserve to be lied to.
