"America Isn't Worth Dying For" |
|
...that's the latest meme - the latest crop of words neocons are stuffing into Cindy's mouth.
My response:
LIES are not worth dying for.

This is what she said:
"I'm going all over the country telling moms: "This country is not worth dying for. If we're attacked, we would all go out. We'd all take whatever we had. I'd take my rolling pin and I'd beat the attackers over the head with it. But we were not attacked by Iraq." {applause)
(She was talking about Iraq was not worth dying for.)

8. Of course she didn't say that... |
|
...the neocons took it totally out of context then put the words back into her mouth in a form that she never spoke them.
They're a bunch of twisted liars - just like their 'leader'.

11. In Confessions of and Economic Hit Man, Perkins relates a conversation |
|
with Muslim college students in Indonesia who tell him that Islam will win out over the US because (paraphrasing) Islam is founded on ideas in which Muslims believe. They say that America is no longer founded on powerful ideas.
The students say it's about religion. On reflection, Perkins says it's not religion, but it's sort of about religion. He said that the American Revolution, the fight against slavery, and the fight against fascism led by FDR were built around ideas. But, since WW2, the ideas around which America is organized are greed and consumption. He says, indeed, American empire probably will fail because these ideas are such bullshit.
On page 69 of the book The Health of Nations the authors write about a study that shows that from 1975 to 1991, there was a huge intensification of want for material goods but stagnation (and even decreases) in desires for spiritual goals (like a good marriage and happy family life).
