The Worst Children's Book Ever (Or, how to raise little Freeps):
"Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed"... a summary

"This full-color illustrated book is a fun way for parents to teach young children the valuable lessons of conservatism. Written in simple text, readers can follow along with Tommy and Lou as they open a lemonade stand to earn money for a swing set. But when liberals start demanding that Tommy and Lou pay half their money in taxes, take down their picture of Jesus, and serve broccoli with every glass of lemonade, the young brothers experience the downside to living in Liberaland."

14. Yes it is
When the little entrepreneurs see a homeless person in need of a drink they should call the police ... they should plant run over the "little foreigner down the street's" stand with their big wheels ...

And little do most American's notice.

Is the fact that children are being indoctrinated into the American culture of violence and misplaced puritanism vis a vis cartoons for children.

I know this as I see... on a daily basis, cartoons from Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, the UK and of course the Netherlands... where I live. The American cartoons are simply out of bounds for my kids ... with their constant death/violence/hate/anger/etc.

Why are they teaching your children how to kill? This is not about one book... or one show... there is a bigger picture here.

it's by chance.

6. "Help! Mom! There's a Republican IN My Bed"
is what parents need to be worried about - considering the number of republicans being arrested for raping and molesting children.

8. Pathetic.
I thought this was a joke at first, that's how pathetic this is. Nothing like teaching hate at an early age.

Let's have a DU contest:

Describe a book entitled, "Help Mom! There are Conservatives under my bed"

Little Jane and Billy go to school, yet are confused because they are told that dinosaurs never existed and that all those dinosaur skelatons that the museums say are millions of years old are actually just put under the ground by the devil. Later in the day, Billy is told that his best friend is "gay" and that he shouldn't play with him anymore because he might "catch it". Billy doesn't know what gay means, but shuns his best friend and the conservatives all cheer Billy for his bravery.

13. ROFLMAO!
Later in the day, Billy and Jane hear from the neighborhood pastor that democratically-elected executives of other countries who attempt to follow Jesus's command to feed the poor are actually serving the Devil and need to be assassinated by good poor-squashing capitalist American CIA agents.

Add to this one... :D

PS - Hi Boss. Hope my coffeemaker isn't stinking up the office. :D

Actually, the first volume in this series was titled, "Help, Mom! I Have to Work in the Coal Mine 16 Hours a Day!", written in 1894. Unfortunately, since the evil liberals initiated child labor laws, demand has fallen, and the book is no longer in print.

15. it wasn't meant this way
But you could almost look at it as a parody of right-wing paranoia about the things they brand "liberalism." To me it's funny that rightwingers like Rush and Hannity behave as though the Clintons and the Kennedys really are under their beds, ready to shut down their lemonade stands.

And these kids are hilarious parodies of rightwingers! Who puts a picture of Jesus on their lemonade stand?

16. Customers who bought this book also bought
The content of this book won't be anything new to the kids whose parents buy it. The depictions of liberals in this book may even be relatively positive compared to what their parents say daily about liberals.

Customers who bought this book also bought

  • Men In Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America by Mark R. Levin
  • How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter by Ann Coulter

17. Exactly what is wrong with paying taxes?
Do freepers think things like roads and schools and police protection and fire departments run on the will of God?

Wait... don't answer that... they probably DO think that.

20. Another customer review
(Looks like it was posted by DU's own Buffy the Fundie Slayer?)

"A book that explains the "evils" of taxes. Only rabid neocons will be buying this book for their children. Of course they'll have a difficult time doing so because they won't wan't to drive to a bookstore--that would necessitate utilizing taxpayer funded roads. It would also mean using reading skills they and/or their children probably learned in evil tax supported public schools. And they certainly couldn't borrow the book from a tax-funded public library!

It seems the neocons don't like taxes unless they are funding war, "faith-based" discriminatory programs or something else they like. If it is something useful or humane taxes suddenly become eeeeeeeeevviiiill.

My eyes are rolling so much they are likely to fall out of my head."
