From a Rovian PR perspective, Bush's vacation is stupid
Showing the "wartime" idiot on vacation and waving to the crowd is so awful. I don't understand why they chose to do this. It is sending such an uncaring lazy message to those who are suffering. I understand he really doesn't care, but he could fake it. This picture on www.kgw.com is just an example.

1. There's no way * would miss his vacation.
And I have a feeling, even if his handlers thought it was a bad idea, they wouldn't dare tell him. He's nothing but a spoiled child and not going to play at the ranch would have probably set off terrible tantrums.

15. I expect you're right. They must know how bad a 5 week vacation
looks.

11. Hi oregonjen. I think this is how you can post a picture from the net...
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 11:24 AM by hwmnbn
If you are using internet explorer:
right click on the image you want to post
left click properties
next to "address" (URL) copy the url
paste it to your post and voila!!

If you are using firefox it's the same procedure except you copy url from "location"

on edit: added instruction for firefox

3. Actually, his "Vacations" ***are*** Rovian/Hughes PR
Photo-ops, the manly man regular man clearing his bush on his manly man "ranch," speeches to his base, receiving awards like that "Thomas Jefferson" one early on in this years vacation, yadda yadda yadda. It is one big tightly structured commercial for our beloved President Bush.

But this time it is not working.

5. They need to get him away from DC, and Rover needed a break too
It kills the news-cycle and makes the press so hungry for "news' that they will snap up any drivel that gets tossed to them..

6. I have to admit, I feel the same way...
the only apparent answer is their hubris is risen to such high levels they can no longer see the rest of us down on the ground to accurately gauge what a normal reaction would be.

fine by me. Let them continue to reinforce to the american people why they disapprove of him.

7. The *in your face* (p)Resident.
With regard to his vacation time, I doubt anyone will tell Bikey W he can't have it. He lives in his own little world and I think he just loves to show his arrogance to the average 'Murican. He just plain doesn't give a sh*t what we think of him or his actions. He's that out right arrogant. He doesn't think he has to answer to anyone, "that's the interesting thing about being the president."

14. And his followers get angry when we "disturb" the boy King with
trivial things like the war while he's on his vacation. How arrogant of us.

9. Please remember....
the president can work from his ranch, folks. He has everything he needs, complete access to all. It just looks like he's relaxing out there on that boat... It's a "working vacation". :sarcasm:

13. Think about how a detective goes around determining the motive
behind a serial killing. They always try to determine what caused the first one because that victim is generally the one with a personal relationship to the murderer. The rest are cover-up or unfortunate evidence that the serial killer enjoyed it the first time.

So, if you recall, Bush took his first vacation a month prior to 9/11 and, we all conjectured that it was circumstantial evidence that he may have had prior warning about an emminent attack. Just like Ashcroft flying private planes at about the same time? This is the rumor that was flying around until 2002 when Bush took another one month long vacation in Crawford, and has since. Nobody talks about that first vacation as if it were a fluke any more because Bush has followed the same pattern every year, even when it didn't make sense.

16. No, this is part of the mirage.
They need everything to appear normal.

The minute people start questioning why the pResident doesn't have time for a 5 week vacation this mirage goes away.

17. Exactly. To admit that anything's out of control just wouldn't be manly
These guys have such a masculinity deficit that they always need to be proving something. Swaggering this way and that, sport-killing for recreation, threatening everyone who gets in their way; it's all part of the same pathetic compensation.

Junior's been scared of his own inferiority all his life. Can you imagine the snotty encounters with Poppy when he's lorded "winning" a second term over him? Ya just know it's happened a couple of times.
