Robertson just said his statement was taken out of context .....
No link yet, just heard him on his 700 club 'CBN' news state that. What a smurf. He spouted some b.s. about 'taking out' could mean kidnapping or some shit, taken out of power (in reference to Chavez) ...... yea right Pat. Tell it to the FBI.

PS: no I don't watch the 700 club, just happened to catch it a minute ago. It's actually a pretty hate filled program I discovered after bout 10 minutes of viewing. No more for me. Peace. :)

1. Uhm.. He said "assasinate"
I don't think he was talking about his character.

Now he's lying, just one more commandment broken.

2. That excuse isn't going to work! MSM has aired the clip of his
statements WAY too many times for ANYONE to believe his statement meant anything but KILL Chavez.

If I remember right, he said "Mr. Chavez thinks America is trying to kill him, well maybe it's time we do just that..."

how does he 'splain' this quote:

20. Yeah, Walt. That's the quote that stuck in my mind, not the "taking out"
bit. He is a liar. There is no other way to interpret what he said. He advocated the murder of a foreign leader. That's what he said. It's on tape. He has committed a crime. Let me guess, the CorpoMedia is only playing the "taking him out" quote, eh?

strategy.

The outrage is over the quote where he directly, unequivocally endorses assassinating Chavez, yet he's pretending everyone is outraged about some OTHER quote where he said "take him out" instead of assassinate.

13. BS, can't believe he's trying the "out of context" ploy
I saw the brief play of his statement on the news, and they replayed even more of it on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night.

He said Chavez thinks we're trying to assassinate him, and so we should go ahead and do it. Cheaper than war. That is what he said. He didn't just say it once. He didn't even just say it twice. He was quite specific; NOTHING was out of context. He used the royal "we" in terms of the US, clearly indicating it was an official action he was espousing. Clearly indicating he believe it should be US policy, and in the same sentence as "assassination"

Clearly a man very close to the president. And so...clearly very good at lying.

I'm, ah, I'm really sorry, Christians everywhere, that a man that says he represents you does such a terrible, murderous job of it. Such a shame this man isn't just immoral, but is a bald-faced liar. So many people look up to this man.

22. Word for word, yes. Thank you. Out of context...he's out of his mind
And it wouldn't have been so bad if that'd been ALL that he said. It's bad enough, but that isn't even everything.

He said more than just that one sentence, but I think he's hoping the single-sentence denial is all he'll have to deal with. And in this media climate, he just might well get away with it.

If need be, catch The Daily Show rerun of last night, if they're rebroadcast in your area. Even they didn't have time to air everything he said, but they played more of it than the news did.

"we really ought to go ahead and do it"

Not just ought to. REALLY ought to. Emphasis.

17. But who knows better than Robertson about taking things out of context?
Is only he allowed to keep the parts of the Bible that enable your hate-filled agenda, and conveniently leave out the rest? At best, his own approach to the Bible is coming to bite him in the ass. But we all know what he meant.

19. I've seen the clip several times.
And it's quite clear that he most certainly is referring to assassination when he used the words "taking out". He refers to it in the context of avoiding any military action.

I'm getting angrier and angrier listening to this desperately sad excuse for a human being and his attempts to weasel out of the shitstorm he himself has created.

24. He was only voicing
the policies of this administration, who also lie about them when they are caught.

What business is it of the US to 'oust' a democratically elected president of a sovereign nation? Does he think that makes it any better?

He's getting a bad reaction because he wasn't supposed to spill the beans, imo.

Meantime, Chavez is growing more and more popular among his people. The election in Venezuela was one of most legitimate anywhere. How dare this radical cleric think he has any right to interfere with the choice of the people of Venezuela.

And I want to thank Chavez for his concern about the the poor people of the US. Our own government sure doesn't care about them. Bush should be as popular here as Chavez is in Venezuela. The more they threaten him, the worse this country looks and the more the people of Venezuela will rally around Chavez.

Now, if we had a different president, Chavez is more than willing to sell us oil. What is he ranting about 'it's cheaper than going to war' with Venezuela? He is a liar, but then, we knew that. He's also a friend of the dictator Taylor, this man needs to be exposed.

I don't understand how he has gotten away with his nefarious dealings with seedy characters for so long while pretending to be a 'man of god'. Hoepfully this will end his long, deceptive career of programming the minds of Americans (some of whom were in my own family, I regret to say, although no longer, but not before he got lots of money from them).

on his program (the 'taken out of context' statement) his 'CBN News' thingy ran a story on Chavez, it was so hate filled, distorted from reality .... even went further than 'FAUX' would have done, if that is possible. Good thing you didn't see it. You would of been fuming. The Propaganda runs deep I have discovered at the 700 Club. And to think people actually watch and believe this shit, brainless, soul-less beings they are. Sad. Peace. :)

How much more blatant can this crackpot be???

Why are our tax dollars making up for what he doesn't pay, and he is allowed to freely espouse murder of heads of state on airwaves across the globe????

I know the IRS is a function of our dysfunctional current administration, but seriously - how does he get away w/this shit w/out paying a dime in taxes????
