3. It's hard work acting like a human being
And Robertson is a little out of practice. Give the poor guy a break! Like YOU never went on your nationally-televised program and called for the assassination of a duly-elected head of state. Sheesh, it happens four, five times a day!

...I'll bet my next paycheck, meager as it is, there are qualifications and hesitations and b.s. like 'if anyone was offended,"

he was quoted out of context, right?

9. First he denies he said it, then when that won't float he offers
A cheap apology. I guess it's better than Smirk, Reich, and Negroponte and Cheney, who really WERE trying to assassinate him, but fucked up their poorly planned coup.

13. I don't think the statement has been released yet
Wolf Blitzer mentioned it. It is not the statement from earlier today, this one is new.

15. Apology?
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 03:32 PM by Bark Bark Bark
I don't see anything about an "apology" at CNN. Here's their latest--the "out of context" baloney--which is proven false within the next two paragraphs!

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/24/robertson.chavez/index.html

"I didn't say 'assassination.' I said our special forces should 'take him out.' And 'take him out' can be a number of things, including kidnapping; there are a number of ways to take out a dictator from power besides killing him. I was misinterpreted by the AP , but that happens all the time," Robertson said on "The 700 Club" program.

The controversy began Monday when Robertson called Chavez "a terrific danger" bent on exporting Communism and Islamic extremism across the Americas.

"If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it," said Robertson on Monday's program. "It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war."

...Yeah, "take him out" can be a number of things. Dating, for example. Sure, Pat, you wanted US special forces to take Chavez to dinner and a movie.

Ass. Ass in nation.

EDIT: Okay, now the article's changed and there's a reference to a written apology. He's still an ass.
