Camp Casey is requesting bottled water
I have been asked to post a request for cases of bottled water at Camp Casey. It is very hot and we are running out.

1. Where can we send them?
Is there a forwarding address or web site we can go to?

5. I just spoke to John Wolf (co-founder of the Peace House)...
He clarified the request. If you are coming out bring cases with you. You can drop them off at the Peace House.

He said that contributions to the Peace House would be appreciated. They have spent most of the money they raised.

12. I just made a donation to the Crawford Peace House...
it was only $25 (I would donate more iff I could afford it), but I hope it helps buy some water.

2. It would cost me more to ship the water than for them to buy it. Can we...
send gift certificates to buy water in Texas somewhere?

14. official gift card answer from John Wolf
"Sam's, Wal*mart, Lowe's, and Home Depot are all within range." They are all about 20 miles away in Waco. There is NOTHING in Crawford.

I think that anything that = potable H2O in a bottle would be fine. Nobody here is going to have a problem with drinking blue water. It will need to come from Waco.

27. They have volunteers handing out watter bottles all the time.
This tends to encourage people to drink. Some people might not go to the dispenser often enough.

Many of these people are not accustomed to Texas heat and humidity. Everything must be done to keep them hydrated.

The medical staff are walking through the site constantly checking on people.

We don't want anyone to end up in the Hospital.

Anybody that's going down could have a little fundraiser and take cases with them.

I bought 2 cases last week but heard the Peace House was totally overrun with water, so held onto it.

I'll try to send it down with some adventurers.

Anybody heading down from Dallas this week?

11. What I have seen...
Camp 2 with the media and most of the people is almost dry now.

Camp 1 has water but they have no shade and people are living there.

The Peace House has some water but most of he cases that were stacked outside are gone.

It is very hot here and people are drinking constantly.

Cindy is coming back and the weekend is also coming.

20. both
They want people to bring cases of water and they want people to donate. I was told that they have spent most of the money. This is a very large project and I do not have any reason to doubt that. The tent is packed tonight and everyone has been well fed.

I'm just the messenger. I am not going to refuse this type of request. From what I have seen there really is a water problem.

25. From the Iconoclast
A plea has gone out for both bottled water and donations to assure the continued supply of water for both Camp Caseys and The Peace House.

For those who care to help, bottled water may be brought to The Peace House or to either camp by arriving supporters or donations may be made through Pay Pal or by check.

According to Johnny Wolf, founder of The Peace House, most of the donations have been small. "But there have been so very, very many, we have been able to provide the tent, supplies to provide the meals, the kitchen facilities at Camp II, the supplies for both camps and The Peace House. We have used as many volunteers as possible to stretch the donations as far as we can. If new donations don't come in, by the time Cindy leaves, we expect to be almost bankrupt again."

Another plea was issued by the medical doctor who has been donating her time for the last few days. Dr. Maria Mulligan asks that any doctors, nurses, EMTs, or other volunteers please come for the weekend (or before), as she must leave on Friday

30. Hang tight all, I'm going to contact a supplier in Dallas in the AM to see
if she might be interested in any kind of donation.

They need water, teas and electolyte drinks. The heat this week is tough. Keep the cokes at home.

And yes, the food situation is being well covered, but can you begin to even imagine the cost of feeding such a group of people and trust me the food has been delicious. It is a banquet worthy of a $10 bill every time. Send donations to the Peace House, it's probably the best way to help at this point.

The Crawford Peace House and all the volunteers, along with all those who have donated have made magic happen.

Thanks to all of you many, many times.
