I agree with Pat Robertson
if his comments were directed towards Saddam instead of Chavez.

Pat Robertson On Venezuela's Prez: Assassinate Him... “It's A Whole Lot Cheaper Than Starting A War”...

1. I disagree, even if the target were Saddam.
We are not (supposed to be) a nation of murderers.

4. yes - but if the US was so determined to oust him
why did that entire country have to be destroyed?

that's my point.

petrodollar profits to the US through construction and development contracts and it's about building a client nation like Saudi Arabia.

Nothing can make that right, no matter what the price tag is.

(BTW, they had to destroy the country so that they could have an excuse for the construction contracts.)

14. Don't forget the war is also about bankrupting the country
so we can get rid of those useless social programs.

15. It's about an upwards redistribution of wealth
just like every other policy iniitiative from the US government in the last decade, such as a balanced budget amendment, trimming income tax, trimming taxes on capital gains and dividends, rolling back estate taxes, liberalizing IRA rulls, pulling the plug on welfare and the Earned Income Tax Credit.

8. That's how I feel. All the talk about bombing and killing Saddam
and his sons didn't seem American to me. Even Hitler would have gotten a trial at Nuremberg if he hadn't committed suicide. Calling for the killing of heads of state, no matter how awful they may be is not the American way, except when Republicans are in charge. (Remember Salvador Allende of Chile.) I think the whole party should be indicted for war crimes.

2. I really wish that nut had won the nomination in 88
President Dukakis would have been a nice way to end the 80's and get us out of the Reagan era.

3. It would be even worse applied to Saddam
as you're finding out, the only thing that kept Iraq's various religious partitions from collapsing into each other was Saddam. It wouldn't matter ~how~ he was taken out by a foreign country, it would just matter that he was, in doing so creating the room for a massive power grab.

Remember the "one silver bullet" statement he made before the invasion?

Pat was taken out of context ... haven't you heard? Just because someone says one thing, doesn't mean they mean something completely different. War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Assassination is ..... uhhhh show me some love. :) :sarcasm:

13. my point is
if one person is the target, if one person absolutely has to be "deposed", why destroy an entire country and it's gifts to civilization?

I agree that it was not our call to make, but all of that death and destruction could have been avoided.

16. Then you sanction cold-blooded murder.
It's a false choice, to choose between degrees of evil.
