Ed Garvey: Let's make sure Dem nominee is a real Democrat
Ed Garvey in today's Capital Times argues in favor of the primary process:
Robert M. La Follette wrote that in the days of boss rule in Wisconsin, the railroad owners and lumber barons would go into Room A to select the Republican candidate for governor or senator and then go to Room B to select the Democratic candidates. Having set the field, they would say, "Let the people decide." La Follette understood that primaries were critical to democracy....

4. And one whose career RECORD proves it.
I want someone who is well left of center FOR REAL. Not someone just visiting and talking the language just to grab all the cash from the left.

6. Stay in touch with the internet--it's driving "them" nuts
If it weren't for the internet, I'd know squat about these candidates.

Even John Kerry. When I lived in Mass., what I knew about him I knew from examining his record online. (And a fine record it is.)

Broadcast media, even npr and pbs, they all paint Braun, Kucinich and Sharpton as irrelevant, like they have nothing to offer. Howard Dean gets exposure, but not in enough depth to truly make up your mind.

There's a lot of co-opting and pr campaigning and bs and bias on the net. But if you're curious, most of the time you can access the the facts.

5. Political season converts do not impress me,
especially when I read comments made little over a year ago supporting members of the current regime.
