NY Times Editorial: If only you had told the truth when it was happening..
Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 06:12 PM by Postman
there might not have been an invasion of Iraq..

snip:
"If we had all known then what we know now, the invasion would have been stopped by a popular outcry, no matter what other motives the president and his advisers may have had."

on edit: I guess the hundreds of thousands of people marching in the streets of practically all the major cities in the world before the invasion doesn't count as a "popular outcry" to the NY Times Editorial staff.

Unbelievable.

2. Do you all really believe that?
Journalists are suppose to check their stories out. They're using the same argument that Condi used. "We didn't know the exact time, date, place nor that it would involve planes."

The real story is that the journalist didn't research this, nor question it, nor did they give good coverage to anyone in Congress who disagreed with Bush's Iraq plan. THAT's the real story.

4. the NYT is of course completely innocent
they never wrote about WMDs, Saddam ties etc...

the journalist that might have accidentally done that (independently from the will of the publishers) is now in jail as a punishment
