SERIOUS QUESTION: How to give to Dems NOT DLC?
I signed up for Howard Dean's monthly donation thing, and plan to give to candidates in the future, but I'm wondering if there is a way to ensure that no funds or portion of funds I give in any way support pro-war corporate lackeys of the DLC.

If they were on fire, I wouldn't piss on them to put them out.

PAT ROBERTSON TYPE DISCLAIMER: this in no way should imply I support flaming DLC members, or with-holding bodily fluids from them.

2. the way I understand it, the DNC is Elvis, the DLC is
one of many Elvis impersonators, they don't run the Democratic Party,
they walk the walk and talk the talk but in the end there is the real
deal and brand x, they are brand x, your money goes to the DNC, their
money comes from fatcats who wish to remain fatcats

9. A better analogy would be
The DNC is Little Richard, and the DLC is Pat Boone.

One might try to cover the other's songs but aside from that, there's really not much resemblance.

5. I recommend DFA - Democracy For America
www.democracyforamerica.com

They have compiled an "A-List" of candidates, with many more sure to follow over the next several months or so. All these candidates have their own websites, and you can contribute directly thru their sites. Or you can simply give to DFA.

7. I would say DFA
would be my first choice for candidate funding.

That being said, don't forget to continue giving to the DNC. They need that money for things like the 50 state infrastructure expansion and a variety of other party building activities. Don't forget that Dean is Chair, so the money won't be going to a DLC candidate unless they happen to benefit from the aforementioned party building.

8. The problem is you'll just have to trust Dean and his plan
and realize that some people you don't like have D's next to their name.

Giving to alternative sources is a problem if you like what Dean is trying to do, and want to help. Giving to individual candidates won't help Dean with his 50 state strategy.

Up to you, of course. But I figure that if Dean is going to make the party strong enough to challenge the Repubs, he's gonna need help. You have to decide which impulse is stronger, the desire to help Dean at the DNC or the desire NOT to help anyone who might be associated with the DLC, which, as someone pointed out, isn't a DNC organization.

11. I have my Democracy Bond
Dean speaks for me, Miss Waverly, but the fatcats do not, I do not
support staying the course in Iraq, or global war for oil.
