To the Editor:
Now that Pat Robertson has apologized for his irresponsible statement about assasinating the leader of a country with which we have diplomatic relations, would it be too much to hope for a second apology -- in this case, for going on TV the next day and brazenly lying that he never said it?
Mr Robertson is certainly not the first political figure to get caught in an untruth, but he chooses to wrap himself in the cloak of a religious leader to Christian America and lecture about our nation's moral failings. The last time I checked, the Ten Commandments, which Mr. Robertson believes should be the moral underpinning of American society, still included the words "Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness".
