It's hush-hush, but Cheney's coming to stump for DeLay
Hotel is booked and the invitations are going out for a major fundraising gala in September

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney is scheduled to appear at a campaign event for House Majority Leader Tom DeLay at a Houston hotel in mid-September.

A spokeswoman for Cheney said that security concerns precluded his office from releasing the vice president's schedule more than a few days in advance.

DeLay's office also would not comment.

However, the time and date of the event, 5-7 p.m. on Sept. 16, and location, the Westin Galleria Hotel, were posted on a Clear Lake GOP online bulletin board (groups.yahoo.com/group/ClearLakeGOP/message/34) and some invitations already have been sent out.

"It is just a fundraiser to show that Mr. DeLay has got the support of the administration," she said.

1. That's an endorsement? From Cheney?
It does seem somewhat perfect that the King of Crime is supporting one of the Jesters. Like Kerry said during the election campaign, they are all a bunch of crooks....

4. Fundraiser? How About Legal Defense Fund
First, why would the leading Repugnican from one of the reddest states, supposedly in one of the safest districts need to raise soooo much money? I know Morrison or someone else will challenge, but c'mon now. There's another reason these two dicks without dicks are doing this. Low profile my ass...

Look at the date...it'll be right after the House is back in session and the Roberts show will be center stage. No better time to get the fat checkbooks salivating or in a lather (depending on how the process is going) in one place at one time.

Also expect this timing to fall around when Fitzgerald is winding up and either indictments will have come down or rumors will be rampant that they're pending. Fitzgerald has been sniffing around Scooter Libby and others in the Chenney coven and here's a chance to stiff-arm for a few bucks to help if defense funds are needed.

And, of course, there's Mr. Bug Man's growing problems. Jack Abramoff is a time bomb just waiting to explode...either through prosecution or his own turning...and the pressure on the Congress to do some sort of ethics investigation into De Lay is getting too strong. His latest poll numbers suck so bad, his hammer is turning into a rubber mallet...so he's gonna need a bunch of cash at the ready to either defend himself or spread around to try to intimidate his way out of things, again.

Actually, the more I look at this, the more I think this is gonna be one hell of a shakedown session...
