Actually those things take months....

... to recover, at least the severe ones do. Not that I am always eager to talk about my ass, but having one of those sons of bitches lasered off sucks, well, ass. The resulting wound is around four inches long and two or more inches deep, and cannot be sewn shut! It has to be packed with gauze and betadine a couple of times a day. This is NO fun. It takes a month or so to kind of heal, but depending on your lifestyle, can take longer.... mine was draining for nearly a year after the surgery.

Rush could've gotten out of it that one year, but he would have been good to go in six months or so.
