Our Taxdollars payed for 100 Rooms at Tamarack for WH Security& Staff!
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 12:07 PM by KoKo01
Meantime we paid for Air Force One and a Press Plane plus the SUV's he gets around in that need to be transported. With the cost of fuel up that means more of our taxpayer dollars go to paying for his "jaunts."
The rest of this article is a good "barf read" about what the Bushes ate (prepared by their chef from Tamarack) and tasted by the SS who have to make sure he isn't being poisoned, plus his mountain biking ride down the trails, etc.

Preparing for a presidential visit proved a rewarding challenge for guest services director Margo Flaherty.

She first heard it might be a possibility when the White House travel agent called a few weeks ago, Flaherty said.

"She told me this is not a joke," said Flaherty.

The White House sent a scout a few weeks ahead of time to tour the resort and make sure it was acceptable. One of the biggest logistical challenges for Flaherty was finding 100 rooms for security and White House staff accompanying Bush. She helped find another several dozen rooms at nearby hotels for the press pool.

"It was a challenge," she said.

A highlight for Flaherty came when she went to the home where the Bushes stayed to make sure the accommodations were in tip-top shape. She ended up staying for two hours and chatting with the first lady while President Bush was on his bike ride Tuesday morning. Then she was invited back to the house Wednesday to have her picture taken with the Bushes.

"I still am trying to digest it all," she said.

1. interesting
How much would we have to raise for Bush to meet Cindy for an hour?

He's a politician after all. We can start a paypal account and actually pay for his time. You know like his supporters do.

2. Calculate in security and that's one very expensive vacation!
Security costs for things such as clearing the airspace for Bush's boatride are very expensive. I would think that transportation and security are on the top of the list for cost, not lodging and food.

8. The house he stayed in was on the Resort Rental Plan, according to
the article. I don't know of any resort that would only charge $69.00 a night in peak season. Plus give away 100 extra rooms for free. The press might have paid $69.00 a night for their "off resort" accomdations, though. Where did you get your information about it being free. I must have missed that in the article.

7. He can't resist insulting people
Boespflug echoed what Kempthorne told reporters after the ride: "He's a tough rider with a very high level of fitness."

"He gave me a backhanded compliment," Boespflug said. "He said you're a good rider, Jean-Pierre, for someone with a potbelly."
