The owner supports Bush.

We fired them. No more RainFresh for us. Thank you, Cindy.

26. He's very anti-union, too
I know WF is supposed to be a good company to work for, but anti-union is anti-union. I had one of their VPs tell me in a good interview about six years ago: "If they don't like that, they can go work someplace else."

But, I still shop there, as do many people in my progressive town. <sigh>

7. Yes the owner supports Bush and company. I called and spoke with her and
asked her to donate to Camp Casey. In the course of the conversation it did come out she supports Bush and I told her to come and get her water.

Game over, Cindy.

4. Ditto on Promised Land Milk & Whole Foods store-brand milk
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 12:56 PM by Justitia
Whole Foods store brand milk IS Promised Land Milk, and they are huge fundie, rabid, very politically active, Bush / GOP supporters.

I buy Organic Valley milk at Whole Foods and it supports an independent dairy farmer right here in TX. The jugs are even labled "Texas Pastures".

11. I don't know how HEB leans
We have no other grocery stores here in Corpus. Well besides Wal-Mart which is a place I avoid unless I have no other choice. So I have no choice but to shop at HEB. Well, actually, we do have a Sun Harvest but it is such a dirty, nasty store that I refuse to go there.

12.  here's the info on HEB from www.buyblue.org:
BuyBlue.org's Position:

HEB currently has a 54% BuyBlue rating due to political contributions for the 2003-2004 election cycle. HEB's Chairman and CEO contributed a modest amount of money which was roughly split between the two political parties but slightly more went to Democrats. HEB does not have a political action committee.

2003-2004 Election Cycle Contribution Statistics
View BuyBlue.org Methodology
Total Spent: $13,000.00

53.85% to Democratic Party candidates
46.15% to Republican Party candidates
0% to Other candidates

I love shopping at HEB too! Even though they do give to Repubs they give MORE to the Dems...

17. That's comforting
They are the only one I have in my town and if I drive to the next town it's them or Wal-Mart.

I'd rather patronize someone who at least is somewhat blue.

13. HEB is a little bluer than red
http://www.buyblue.org/alphalist.php

Whole Foods creeps me out. More indulgent than health food stores, more holier-than-thou than regular grocers, Whole Foods smells like a big marketing scam. And so smug, which is unwarranted as I can find a lot of the things they carry at regular stores. I don't like it there at all.

23. FYI: Organic Valley is available at Central Market (TX), Publix (FL)
as well as Whole Foods. They have numerous dairy products (eggs, cheese, sour cream, etc. & orange juice).
Their TX milk comes from an independent farmer in Sulphur Springs.

I also find their products at Publix grocery stores in FL.

They are a coop of almost 700 family farms.

Just in case anyone is interested.....

water. Cindy, Rainfresh and all the rest you all are so fired!!\

My grandma came home from California in the early 60's and she started us all on distilled water.

Never again will I buy it from someone else. And G'D it. I liked Cindy at Rainfresh. She went too far.
