Why isn't the phrase "Corporate Welfare" in more headlines?
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 03:15 PM by Melodybe
The oil industry, the phramacuetical industry, the weapons industry all recieve hand outs from tax payers while the report record profits, while isn't the media using this phrase when reporting on it.

for example:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050825/ts_nm/california_lawsuit_dc_2

It makes me sick!

So a favor ya'll try using the phrase, "Corporate Welfare" as much as possible.

Thanks

5. Yah, but who will hear you...
That is the fundamental part of the problem. They have most of the voices to everyone else that everyone hears.

As someone said before... "If you repeat a lie often enough..."

9. Manhattan Beach, California
I saw this bumper sticker in Manhattan Beach last week:

KEEP CORPORATIONS OFF WELFARE!

(This is unusual because Manhattan Beach is a highly Republican area...maybe there is still hope.)

11. because corporations are reporting the news
It's up to us to make ubiquitous terms such as Corporate Welfare
representatives who are "corpocrats".

Lou Dobbs came up with a very good one recently:

corporate supremacists
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/11/lobby.america/index.html

"How to" get these terms out there is the public stream of consciousness.

1. build a website and use these terms, make sure it's searchable
by search engines and you're using search engine techniques to get your site indexed correctly.

2. write letters to the editor and to online comments

3. use these terms repeatedly in your online posts and spread your posting to multiple sites.

12. You raise a very key point
Liberal is marketed as something to be despised because those liberals want to take money from working people and give it to somebody else. It appeals to the reptilian brain. In countering this ingrained brainwashing, there is a perfect opportunity in raising the big picture question of "Is America a fascist country" and explaining exactly what you are talking about with corporate welfare/wealthfare.

A few years ago I saw the numbers of the safety net costing each taxpayer $400 and corporate welfare costing each taxpayer $1400, not that exact numbers are easily determined or agreeable. It does show that people have lived the reality of the echo chamber and that if you are concerned about money the government takes from you, you certainly should understand who the government is really serving and focus on the sliding payments to the US Treasury from the corporations.

You raise a tremendous point, because nothing will change until the brainwashed seek a more true reality and it will only begin when you destroy the manufactured reality projected into their minds.

13. Thanks I'm going to be doing it from here on out.
I hope that everyone else remembers to use an argument like this next time the phrase liberal media pops out of some ignorant freepers mouth.
