REVISED VERSION (Your thoughts?)
For those of you that are seeing this for the first time, this is my sign for the November 2nd protest. This list will be in smallish black print with BIG BOLD RED letters spelling "NOT MY AMERICA" on the foreground. For those of you that have seen it, and added your opinion, I thank thee. (You know who you are, thank you!)
This is not my America.
My America would not send her children to die over one man’s vendetta.
My America would not partake of aggression against nations undeserving of her wrath.
My America would not tolerate or encourage intolerance.
My America would know to show strength when necessary, compassion when necessary.
My America would know how and when to admit a mistake, and that such is not an admission of weakness.
My America would not place in charge those who seek only to divide this nation between the left and the right.
My America would not turn a blind eye to an administration that lies and misleads her people.
My America would not uphold those lies.
My America would not threaten or invade those lands that are no threat or danger to her.
My America would not incarcerate people without charge, legal representation, or chance to prove their innocence.
My America would not allow snap legislation to be passed on a whim.
My America would not invent acclamations for ideas or actions that have earned none.
My America would not allow the beliefs of one group of people to govern all people.
My America would not count on the ignorance of her subjects to allow participation in illegal and unconstitutional actions.
My America would not ignore the pain or anger of her people, nor hide their outcries against wrongdoing.
My America would not threaten ancient sacred lands for the crimes of a nation’s extremist.
My America would not allow those crimes to go unanswered, those criminals unaccounted for.
My America would protect her borders, and her people, and their freedom.
My America would not legislate on opinion.
My America would not appoint proven criminals to power positions.
My America would not defend traitors.
My America would not be apathetic to our wounding of others.
My America would not ignore issues that affect each living thing on this planet.
My America would not choose corporations over families.
My America would not work to divide her citizens, the poor and the rich, one race from another.
My America would not use her children as test subjects.
My America does not run on pharmaceuticals, neither should her people.
My America would not stand for the dumbing down of her youth.
My America would not outsource jobs while her people starve.
My America would not give power to those who would use it for personal gain.
My America would not force her will and beliefs on people that have no desire, need, or wish for them.
My America would not poison this earth, air, water, and people.
My America would defend every person’s right to retirement, not just the wealthy.
My America would not promote censorship.
My America would not allow a one-party rule.
My America is a democratic republic, not an autocracy, or theocracy, or kingdom.
My America is beautiful, powerful, proud and free.

3. Yeah..
about a month ago I received a message saying that people are trying to organize a protest on Nov 2. Apparently people are invited to leave work (or take the day off, like I am) leave school, leave home, and all go "downtown" (where ever your downtown may be, where your City Hall would be) with signs, shirts, posters etc to get our voices heard. It can be about how Bush is mishandling the war, the economy, how America is taking a HUGE step into Conservative Right world, or whatever it is you wish to be heard about. It's a chance for all people of ALL walks of life and political beliefs to get together and, well, be together. Strength in numbers. I think the original message I received came from here.. maybe we could ask around and get more info...

I like your sign text! I am working on a Gif for you to use on political forums that includes your text. I will post it when I am finished.

Very few people will get close enough to you at a rally to read it all however. May I suggest that in addition to that, you also brandish something of a "One Liner" that can easily be read from a short distance?
Easy to read stuff comes off better in news, photos, and to the casual interested observer driving by an action.

In any event, I hope you find the friends you have spoken of this with and the idea blossoms into a very large protest on Nov. 2nd

6. Yeah, I thought about that too,

so on the back of my sign will be a pic of Bu$h wearing a crown that reads "Down with King Bush". Thought more people could "feel me" with that! Whadda ya think?

Hmm, i think what I saw for Nov. 2 may have been taken from that text, but reading it didn't ring many bells. Same kind of idea though and hey, as long as we are all together it doesn't matter to me what we're protesting! One voice with many concerns....

8. I think that would be a great way to go with on a two sided sign!
Maybe down with king George? in the spirit of the first american patriots, With the ugly Bu$h face on it everyone will know which king George you mean! It would kinda add a little colonial retro feel to the sentiment.

9. A link to a picture (jpg or gif) shows up as the picture in a post.
Edited on Fri Aug-26-05 07:15 PM by Dragonfli
Normally, if I were to type the links below it would result in
a picture being displayed rather than what I typed. (It's how
you post pictures on this board.)

I have overridden that board function for this post by
checking the "plain text" box in the message posting
window.

Type the following (or copy/past it) into the signature box in
the edit profile option found when you click on the
"options" link on the top of the forum page:

http://dragonflihost.net/my-america-sm.gif

to center it type this:
http://dragonflihost.net/my-america-sm.gif

to center it, and put a text message below the sig picture
type this:
http://dragonflihost.net/my-america-sm.gif[br]my
message or quote
If I didn't post the url to that image here another way to
find it is to right click on the picture, choose properties
and it will list the pictures url there.
I hope I helped you, rather than confused you just now, I am
not that good at tech explanations.
