War Mom vs. Peace Mom

Stung by the ability of one grieving mother to inspire a growing antiwar movement, the White House has found a mom to call its own.

An obviously delighted President Bush introduced her to a boisterous invitation-only audience mostly made up of military families in Idaho yesterday -- then sent her out to talk to the press.

"There are few things in life more difficult than seeing a loved one go off to war," Bush said in his speech yesterday. "And here in Idaho, a mom named Tammy Pruett -- (applause) -- I think she's here -- (laughter) -- knows that feeling six times over. (Applause.) Tammy has four sons serving in Iraq right now with the Idaho National Guard -- Eric, Evan, Greg and Jeff. Last year, her husband Leon and another son, Eren, returned from Iraq, where they helped train Iraqi firefighters in Mosul.

"Tammy says this -- and I want you to hear this -- 'I know that if something happens to one of the boys, they would leave this world doing what they believe, what they think is right for our country. And I guess you couldn't ask for a better way of life than giving it for something that you believe in.' America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruetts. (Applause.)"

1. Gak
I cannot stand the way * and Co. use people for their crass political purposes.

And, I cannot stand the way these sheep allow themselves to be used.

I salute her family's service but this "the left has Cindy Sheehan, I've got Tammy Pruett, nyah, nyah" crap is so juvenile.

4. Excellent point, Dan.
I'm sure she would at least have second thoughts if she were in Cindy's place.

5. This is what angers me most....
Look at what Bush and company are doing here.....

He's not ignoring Cindy anymore. He's driving a wedged between military families and actually forcing them to take sides just so he won't look bad....

I am more than furious...I am LIVID with anger over this. He has found yet another way to divide the nation hoping that when it is split, 50.00000001% lands on his side. And he's doing it for his own ego.

This SOB shouldn't be on vacation, he should be in the docks in The Hague. :grr: :grr: :grr: :argh: :argh: :argh:

6. America lives in freedom because of families like the Pruetts.
But, I guess * wouldn't say the same about the Sheehan family since Casey reportedly didn't believe in this invasion and neither did Casey's immediate family who was close to him.

And someone, please, remind me again how invading Iraq is protecting my freedoms? What about bin laden? I guess going after him wouldn't be protecting my freedoms.

Honesty... what a confusing thing... :eyes:

9. Alex Bennett went off on this today
And he asked a great question. Didn't the Pentagon begin a policy of not allowing this many kids from one family to serve in the same war at the same time after the Sullivan siblings were killed in WWII?

10. I salute Tammy too
She still has the luxury of NOT losing a loved one in Bush's Invasion of Iraq.

Sadly if Bush had illegally invaded Canada for no reason other than he could there would be moms rationalizing their son's positive contribution to the cause. Cindy is right to question Bush. Tammy Pruett can support him though it takes a consciously ignorance of what is really going on in Iraq for her to do so.

14. I don't understand War Mom.
She seems thrilled to have four sons in Iraq. I would be terrified.
