Something to ponder as you become an "adult"...
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 09:58 PM by MinneapolisMatt
One piece of advice I wish someone would have told me is this:

Most adults in the "real world" act like they are in seventh grade, and most of them really don't have a damn clue as to what they are doing. Most are just pretending like they know what life is all about and what's going on.

I'm turning 30 next year, and I *still* struggle with my identity. I know I have potential to do lots of things, but its just a matter of finding that moment that just clicks. But I'm not "waiting" for something to drop into my lap. I just take one thing at a time.

And another little secret, this time from first-hand experience:

I had an executive-type job, making shitloads of money. I lived in a gorgeous penthouse apartment, and by all appearances had everything. But I was miserable. Yes, it was fun to blow money like water and not care, but after a couple of years, it got old, and I was still unhappy and miserable.

I know its easy to say that having been there (having money), but trust me, its not all its cracked up to be. So never pressure yourself (or let others pressure you) into thinking you are a failure because you make like $8 an hour. Just be happy. That's all that matters. Keep plugging away, meet the basic needs, and you'll get there.

Matt
