I definitely dug Jon's Watergate references while talking about Bush's 36%.

He called them "watergate polling numbers"

6. Hitchens practically ran out of there
Most guests sit and chat with Jon during the music as they go to break, then leave.

Hitchens was out the door as soon as the music started playing.

Makes you think he didn't want to be there.

8. It was a beat-down as powerful as the one dealt to the crossfire punk
Jon Stewart would have none of Hitchens standard talking points, which Hitchens also employs every bit as often as Bush (but in a way that sounds more literate obviously than Bush, but Hitchens' talking points are every bit as canned as Bush's), instead of how Jon Stewart operates: through real-time rapier verbal and mental cut-and-thrust.

A nice slicing and dicing of the petulant gutter snipe, "bag of shit" or whatever Cockburn rightly called him. Hitchens often behaves like this, cf his debate with Tariq Ali circa 2003.
