need references on & descriptions of IMF austerity measures

Basically, I've likened some of Bushler's economic policies to IMF austerity measures, but I don't have a truly concrete notion of what IMF austerity measures are. I'd like to have a concrete notion of what they are so I can get an idea if I was right, wrong, or what.

I've googled around a bit, and about all I could find was stories about massive riots and revolutions against governments that imposed austerity measures on their own people.
