Also, a National Guard veteran will be with the group. I am not able to make it but my name is on the DU poster... :)

<snip>
About 40 people gathered Thursday in front of Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission to sign the “Colorado Springs Supports Camp Casey” banner that protesters will take to Crawford, along with tents to camp in the Sheehan compound.

The trip is not affiliated with any group, said Therault, a blues musician who put down his harmonica to organize the anti-war motorcade.

“I’m a registered Republican,” he said. “This crosses political boundaries.”

A detractor’s shouts of “Losers” from across busy Vermijo Avenue didn’t deter the speakers from sharing their reasons for making the more than 900-mile trip to stand by Sheehan.

1. Interesting
And its great Therault is doing this, but, wow! A Republican Blues musician?

Ohhh!, Mama, got those Capital gains penalties, deep dark death tax blues, again.

3. Here in Kansas we sing
"I got those Darwin-dumpin', bible-thumpin', anti-evolution blues."

6. Actually, that's from Crowson, a cartoonist for the local paper

(Wichita Eagle, aka the Daily Disappointment). He and his wife do blue-grass music and heard them sing this at a peace rally. Yes, right here in red country Wichita! There ARE intelligent people everywhere, I guess; it's just in some areas the idiots outweigh the people with brains.

(edited to correct spelling of name)

5. I just wanted to give a heads up ....
But it all seems to be above board. He was the "organizer", The Pikes Peak Justice group is the most progressive group in Colorado Springs, always in front speaking up for human rights. I think it is newsworthy that a registered Repub is joining the protest.
