Question: How Do You Get a Freeper to Shut Up?

That is what newbie Freeper AWest recently did on the Freeper web site in response to a fellow Freeper's post on a Cindy Sheehan bashing thread, where the fellow Freeper questioned why the MSM never made a big deal out of grieving mothers whose sons died in Clinton's Kosovo war:

AWest meekly and apologetically offered the possibility that this was because there were no grieving American mothers produced by the Kosovo war as there were no American casualties. That pretty much shut down that thread.

Considering that this was AWest's first post, he probably should be forgiven for not being familiar with Freeper etiquette. His primary sin was interrupting someone while in the midst of a good ol' fashioned Clinton bashing. He did have enough sense to include some Cindy bashing in his post, but he's going to have to understand the typical Freeper's aversion to facts if he wants to last very long.

How long do you think it will be before he gets tombstoned?

I hate to out a fellow DUer, but come on--posting factual information that refutes Freeper groupspeak? A real Freeper would either join in the Cindy/Clinton bashing (she's having his love child, you know!) or hold his tongue. Plus, look at the screen name: AWest=Adam West=the Batman TV series=gay icon. Hell, I got zotted on FR just for refuting the old "Iraq is safer than California" canard, among other things.

I've been banned from FR numerous times--they used to allow new registrations using Yahoo email addresses; maybe they still do. If you've read anything, if you know anything, if you don't hate gay people and Mexicans, it's really hard not to post snarky remarks in an attempt to set the dumbasses straight. I think the most posts I ever racked up under a single identity there was around 20. Good luck to AWest, is all I can say.

The great bulk of posts on FR are either self-assured back patting, or debates as to how far right of a viewpoint the official party line should be (I think assault gun ownership should be mandatory! No, that seems excessive, I think everyone should only be required to own atleast a .22). Inconvenient facts are conveniently scrubbed, or the thread dies as in the above example. Republicans, especially Freepers are a monolithic bunch. If something doesn't jibe with their particular ends, it doesn't exist to them.

My experience is that you can occasionaly force them to reboot after confronting them with a glitch in their programming, but it's only a temporary reprieve. They never truly "shut up".

Notice how the freep brings up Mogadishu?!?!? Ummm, this was a response to a freeper who asked about Kosovo and this moron feels the need to completely change the subject? Then he complains about the media not making a fuss about no U.N. involvement? Well, first of all, the right wing was screaming from the roof-top about U.N. not being involved (a bit hypocritical considering the right's disdain for the U.N, don't you think?) Also, Clinton had NATO backing with regards to Kosovo, which is far more than shrub* can claim. And beside, we're talking about a military intervention which stopped the genocide of tens of thousands and it was accomplished without a single American death. What are you complaining about coop? I know you're listening coop. Care to respond?

If you come here often, and watch CSPAN, listen to AAR, read newspapers, read KOS, The Nation, and watch BBC America (and, of course, The Daily Show), you can mention facts they don't know. Hate-radio only gives a very partisan sliver of information.
Ask questions. Ask, what do you think of Chuck Hagels' comments about Iraq? You realize, of course, he's not only a Republican but a decorated Viet Nam veteran...
