and ask them to be "co-sponsors" of Congresswoman Barbara Lee's "Resolution of Inquiry" re: the Downing Street Memos. Specifically, according to these folks (
http://www.politicalaffairs.net/article/articleview/1719/1/32):
"The Resolution, H. Res. 375, is a privileged resolution which must be brought to a vote in the House International Relations Committee by September 16th, or Lee is permitted to demand a vote of the full House."According to our very own Griffy in a recent "Latest Breaking News" thread (
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=1724922):
"its the 1st step in impeachment. The resolution provides for investigation needed to draft the articles of impeachment, which would then be voted on..."So, CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TODAY, AND ASK THEM TO CO-SPONSOR THIS RESOLUTION!!! Take a few minutes to make sure the folks answering the phone know how upset you are about this stuff, and you might even want to add something about how they voted in the Clinton impeachment, if you know anything about that.
For me, my Representative, Joe Knollenberg (R), basically said (paraphrased) "Clinton lied, so he must be impeached." I brought that up with his staff person. I also said that if Joe was "misled" by the President's lying, like other people in this country, then I could forgive him AS LONG AS HE DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If he doesn't DO SOMETHING, then I'm going to consider him part of the problem, and do my best to get someone in there who will take care of business. I was very calm when I shared this, and did my best to keep it simple and full of common sense.
Keep this kicked with your reports, please!
Now, GET ON THE PHONE -- Its FIVE MINUTES FOR DEMOCRACY NOW!!!ON EDIT: Fixed the placement of italics -- doh!
