14. Paul Begala was Bay's counterpart.
But Bay spoke first and Paul, ready to rebut her RW talking points, could only agree. In fact, his responses were milder than Bay's.
Bay says Bush is in deep trouble and had nothing but admiration for Cindy's cause. Remarkable!

That was part of his platform when he ran for prez under the reform party banner. It is also why he supported chimpy in 00, because, if we all recall, chimpy was the one who excoriated Clinton/Gore for the business in Bosnia and so forth. Chimpy did not believe in NATION BUILDING, he said....

Well, he got that bit right--he's done a fine job of NATION DESTROYING, the flucking putz.

I even heard Bay say that "those terrorists aren't really a threat to us" or some such.

The Old Right is not an enemy of America. The NeoCons and the spineless Corporate Dems are the real problem. All of them would sell their grandmothers into slavery if it brought them a dollar.

Whose War?

A neoconservative clique seeks to ensnare our country in a series of wars that are not in America’s interest.

by Patrick J. Buchanan

The War Party may have gotten its war. But it has also gotten something it did not bargain for. Its membership lists and associations have been exposed and its motives challenged. In a rare moment in U.S. journalism, Tim Russert put this question directly to Richard Perle: “Can you assure American viewers ... that we’re in this situation against Saddam Hussein and his removal for American security interests? And what would be the link in terms of Israel?”

They've already proven themselves capable of doing or saying anything to get what they want: hegemony and blessings from their masters. They could tell me that the sky was blue, and I would disbelive them on principle. They should be lashed to their sinking ship.

What was Wolf's reaction?

That is pretty incredible to hear that she said anything positive about Cindy, although I heard a comment a few weeks back where she gave the impression she was mellowing, but I can't, for the life of me, remember what the subject was. I just remember I sloughed it off...figured I'd heard it wrong.

34. Thanks for the welcome!
I had to find someplace where everyone wasn't whacko so I could vent my anger! There are still enough *ies out there, you are almost afraid to say anything. However, I am finding out that those I thought were strong for * are really scared...scared to say anything, scared to write any LTTEs and scared to sign petitions. Did you ever, in your lifetime, think you'd see that in the U.S.?

Just nice to find a place that's sane and not Republican. <sigh>

just completely bizarre

but truth does seem to be making inroads and i truly believe that good will conquer this evil

take care and keep fighting the good fight

90. Bay isn't Catholic anymore, unless she rejoined after
this 1995 article.

Bay was one of nine children in the sprawling, devoutly Catholic Buchanan family. Pat, ten years her senior, would occasionally pat her head on his way out the door. It was when Pat joined the incipient Nixon campaign in the mid 1960s that Bay first awakened to politics. By the time she was in college and Pat in the Nixon Administration, she had developed a fighting faith: "Pat was there, Nixon was controversial, so I had to make certain . I had to defend my brother."

Bay took leave from McGill to join the fray herself in the Nixon re-election campaign in 1972. Afterwards she finished her degree, then taught for a year before living briefly in Australia, where she converted to Mormonism. Back in the States, she worked as treasurer of the Reagan campaigns in both 1976 and 1980. In 1981, she became at age 32 the youngest Treasurer of the United States ever. She married and had three children, whom now, after a divorce, she raises alone

71. This is not new
Buchanan, an old-school conservative, has never backed this war.

And he has never backed it publically.

74. It is NOT an entire surprise
Her brother Pat Buchanan, was pretty much an isolationist, and believed that Iraq was the worst mistake this country has made

He wrote a book about it:

Where the Right Went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency (Hardcover)

76. The CNN Transcript of Bay and Paul....
In today's "Strategy Session," new poll numbers on how well President Bush is handling his job. And new numbers on how things are going in the country. Here to talk about that and more, CNN political analyst Paul Begala, he's a former Democratic strategist, and CNN contributor and president of American Cause, Bay Buchanan. She's a good Republican strategist as well.

Let's check out these numbers, Bay. I'll go to you first. How is President Bush handling his job as president? Only a couple of week ago, 45 percent approval, now it's down to 40 percent. That's pretty low.

BAY BUCHANAN, CNN CONTRIBUTOR: That's -- it's not good news. There's no question about it. I can't tell you that there's any good news in those numbers. Not only is the number low, they're going in the wrong direction, and they're going in the wrong direction fast.

BLITZER: Is it because of Iraq primarily, or high gasoline prices or other issues?

BUCHANAN: Everything I've seen in these polls, the two big things are Iraq and the economy. And the president, unfortunately, has lost the ability to influence these polls, because Iraq is being influenced by what's going on over there. We don't see the kind of progress the American people expected by this time. And the economy -- gas prices are going up, and you have American consumer confidence is down. And in addition to that, they're looking for heating coming this winter. And those prices are going up, too.

86. What I come away with most from the transcript is
how weak Begala is.

Bay Buchanan is a typical right winger.

Paul Begala is a typical right winger.

Something is missing.

93. You miss the point.
If the battle field were even it would be:

From the right- Bay Buchanan.

From the left- Bernie Sanders.

Begala makes a mockery of the "debate."

85. Pat Buchanan has always been highly critical of Bush.
His American Conservative magazine had an issue with the cover story "The Case Against George W. Bush," showing that Bush is no conservative. Buchanan has also always been very much against the invasion and occupation of Iraq. It is no surprise that his sister would feel the same way and, like her brother, say so publicly.

The main difference is when it becomes widely known. The fact that so many people think Buchanan and his sister really support Bush shows his criticisms of Bush are not as widely known as they should be.

87. Sheehan may have become the tipping point for the idiot's reign of terror.
There seems to some pack mentality on the part of the press especially in light of the idiot's deteriorating poll numbers. Not much courage needed to criticize an unpopular lame-duck idiot after the tide has started to turn. Watch out for next terra attack it may be repukes only hope to regain traction.
