Has CNN grown a brain? a conscience?....remarkable -
In a 10 min period, they ran the new NARAL ad....the Cindy ad....Begala and Buchanan discussed how dismal * numbers are in the new Gallop and indicated he is now trashed....CNN runs the Dead Wrong special....

WHAT HAS CHANGED? Why has it taken so long? Has Karl cut off their special funding? Very pleased at the possible turning of the tide, but highly confused.

1. I'm sensing it too
Edited on Fri Aug-26-05 03:46 PM by ewagner
Here's what I posted earlier today:

Last night while getting dinner ready to go on the table I had the TV tuned to MSNBC in anticipation of Countdown, with Keith Olbermann and a commercial came on....

in the past year there have been a lot of commercials fo CDs of "Christian Rock", Songs of Worship etc., etc., and this was another CD offer but this one was for PETER, PAUL AND MARY !!!

The commercial was cut with scenes of their concerts from the '60s and a lot of historical footage mixed in.....

get it?

The MARKETEERs have sensed the change. They are equating what's going on with the vigils and protests to what happened in the late '60s and they are jumping on the bandwagon to cash in on the SENTIMENT OF THE PROTESTS! When the MARKETEERS start to cash in, you can bet there has been a paradigm shift....

interpretation, and it did give me goosebumps, hearing Peter, Paul and Mary, again. I've been pulling out my old anti-war music since Cindy began her vigil!

With *'s Iraq war approval ratings at 38% and VERY low overall job approval ratings, the M$M is going to need to adjust their product to suit their consumers.

4. My thoughts exactly
CNN is probably using these polls as a measure of who they should be courting to watch their "news". 56% disapproval means alot of people that do not like the chimp, and they may be changing to make more money off these people.

I am not falling for it.

3. interestingly enough...
For the past few days, the AOL welcome screen has taken a few punches at Bush, using an unflattering photo of him in his truck and asking if he takes too much vacation, calling him a 'gas hog' yesterday, and other such swipes. AOL and CNN share a common owner, and it can't be coincidence that both are suddenly telling an occasional truth. Bush must be hurting business, that's all I can figure - you know there's an unsavory motive behind it.

I am unfortunately an AOL member. I've noticed a significant difference in poll results for the past few months, before Sheehan. That pic of B* always makes me immediately scan for his back bulge!! The US elected a lying, cheating, hypocritcal, criminal. About time everyone awoke from this mad dream.

There is nothing the Corporate Media can do now to redeem themselves. If they're cozying up to the truth, its for a reason and has nothing to do with journalistic integrity.

49. I agree. Effective propaganda has to be based in reality.
CNN, the most effective right-wing media outlet in America, understands that they have to be truthful to a certain degree. Fox News is way out in right field and is simply preaching to the choir with their obviously slanted coverage. CNN is much more devious, which makes their brand of corporate propaganda more effective.

This is the same network that gave endless air time to the swift liars.

10. They are driven by the need to attract viewers. Money, pure and simple.
Therefore they respond to what they think people want to see. What I believe has finally happened is that a significant number of people are getting fed up with Bush and the war and the social security BS and all the lies, and CNN has noticed this - at last. Knowing that a lot of people no longer support the pretzeldent has given them enough nerve to broadcast material critical of him.

15. was 40% a magic threshold? Is it now okay to comment
upon the Emperor's wardrobe? I caught the tail end of Hardball last night on MSNBC and was surprised to see Tweety and both of his guests openly agreeing that Iraq is much worse off now than it was under Saddam. Not that this is a shocking bit of news to me, but the snippets of Hardball that I catch are usually more favorable to the administration than that open admission of utter failure. Can I finally hear reality reported on something other than Countdown, The Daily Show, and The Weather Channel?

Whoever posted that cnn just smells blood in the water has nailed it on the head.

These are the same freaks that promoted the smearing of Kerry by 24/7 branding him as a "flip-flopper".

These are the same bastards that gave 24/7 coverage to the swiftboat liars. Again... to smear Kerry.

These sons of bitches are sensationalists and when some gop whore whispers in their ear that the Democratic Party is "weak" (whatever the phuck that means)... cnn brands Dems as weak because they repeat this lie over and over and over again.

They are gamers. Cnn news readers think only about their stock options... the accuracy of their reporting has NO VALUE. They have a vested interest in tax cuts and promoting the gop corporatocracy.

In one respect, they are worse than fox news because they pretend to be objective.

CNN: phuck you. Too little. Too late.

52. Thanks for the welcome! And again, I agree with everything that you've
said about CNN; don't watch Faux; get too angry, and CNN makes me angry enough. CNN IS just plain sneaky! Just a few recent examples from Cindy Sheehan coverage: The only time they really mentioned numbers was the one time that a 'counter group' showed up, and they reported the numbers of both sides to be equivalent, when that was not the case at all...it was a bald-faced lie. They also constantly equate Cindy with 'radical' left-wing groups, and mention M.Moore, and Moveon.org, but NEVER mention the fact that these 'anti-Cindy, pro-War, pro B*shit, groups are funded by the RNC!

I could go on, but I'd be preaching to the choir!!

33. Well it took you all long enough to notice, I've been posting about this
for weeks now.

They "changed everything" again at CNN/HLN about 3 weeks ago. Well not everything, they still need to dump that STUPID "Headline Prime" and Nancy Grace. They did it very quietly though, not wanting to point out the mistake they made when the "Changed Everything!" back in July 2001.

Check it out, they dumped all the screen hogging graphics, they re-hired some of their old (and they are over 30 too) News Anchors, and they kicked most of the "Hot Chics" and Hot Studs" out of the studio, sent them out to learn how to report news, I guess.

And they have been reporting on Cindy and other Anti-War stuff. The other day (I think this was actually on CNN) they reported on how the Bush "Handlers" guided their camera to the "Idaho War Mom" at his speech the other day.

Except if their was a Jet Crash or something like that that I knew they would be all over, so when I turned it on a few weekends ago, and it was different.

I've been monitoring it since, and they definitely made some changes.

See, I've been "Working at Home" for about 2 years now, since the Digital Camera made my job at a Professional Photographic Lab obsolete. So, I've been retraining myself in Digital Photo and Video Editing (when my computer is working right) and spending too much time on DU.

I live near Atlanta, where CNN is located, but until the last few weeks, I couldn't even bring myself to apply at CNN because of the crap they had been pumping out. I've started to consider them again, but I think they still pay rock bottom wages, so we'll have to see.

43. Maybe the CNN PsyOps Internship program was truly terminated?
Here's a statement from NPR:

"NOAH ADAMS, host: Interns from the US Army's 4th Psychological Operations Group PSYOPS, were working in the news divisions at both CNN and National Public Radio last year. Both organizations say the interns were placed without the knowledge of senior news management and they will no longer accept any PSYOPS interns. NPR's Brooke Gladstone reports."

"BROOKE GLADSTONE reporting: Last year, CNN played host to five interns from the PSYOPS group. NPR says its three PSYOP interns were employed as temporary administrative news interns, answering phones, filing scripts, copying and preparing program schedules. They each worked for a couple of months beginning in September 1998 and ending in May of last year. In a statement today, NPR president Kevin Klose says that upon learning of the pre-existing relationship of the three interns to the US Army, NPR news management terminated acceptance of such interns in the future. Lieutenant Colonel Paul Mullen(ph) deputy commander of the PSYOPS group, says the internships offered his soldiers a chance to gain some first-hand experience in the news business. (April 10, 2000, All Things Considered, National Public Radio)"

In case you missed it (I did on the first two readings) note the splendid piece of literary mendacity included in the above text: "In a statement today, NPR president Kevin Klose says that upon learning of the pre-existing relationship of the three interns to the US Army..."
