What will it take for the world to turn it's back on us?
If we get crazy and start throwing nuclear missiles into Iran, if we keep playing the part of the schoolyard bully. Is that enough for the rest of the world to turn their backs on us? give us a time out, quit all trading and make us pariahs in the world.

1. When the economies become strong on their own and dependency on
American stuff wanes. The advent of the Euro is quite ominous in this regard. Also, when everyone begins to see through the "greatest because freest" hype.

4. the world is in the process of realigning
China is well on the way to being the superpower in the world, ironically our own corps have gone far to help this.

What I mean though, if through chimp and snarlin dick the us commits such a horrendous act that so offends mankind, will the rest of civilization just tell us to go to hell for a while, maybe even gangup to get rid of these manics.

5. Read recently that American brands are losing their appeal overseas.
Don't know where it was . . . Maybe someone else can locate it. I guess the idea is that torture, agressive wars, melting the planet and arrogant, criminal behavior in general just aren't that sexy. Coke made a lot of money in past decades trading on their American 'cachet'; now maybe they're losing money because the face of America is not so appetizing anymore.

I do think an organized, targeted international boycott of American products would be HIGHLY effective, though.

7. Good!
When the British Empire fell apart the British became much more decent human beings.

I never wanted to live in a friggin' empire, anyway.

What good is it being the biggest kid on the block when you're also the biggest bully?

10. it already has
China, Europe, and the Middle East are all going about coordinated actions to economically destroy us, and will probably escalate that to military methods if Cheney goes nuts again and nukes Iran.
