Pro-War mother on Hardball... kinda sad..
Anyone else watching this?... They both aren't activist and seem uninformed. They are talking about how the White House contacted them ahead of time... seems like a real nice lady.

1. yeah, she is a nice lady and people here need to give her the same respect

we expect for Cindy.

She says that Cindy has every right to grieve whatever way she sees fit.

So be careful.

Unfortunately she is saying that we are in Iraq to bring the Iraqi people the same freedom of speech that Cindy is practicing here. I wish that were true, but it isn't when the constitution is full of Islamic law and there are over 100,000 dead innocent Iraqis. Women will suffer more now than under Saddam.

6. By Islam I assume you mean Islamic law
I don't believe there is anything in Sharia about freedom of speech. The concern about using Islamic law is that, in the way it is often interpreted, women are treated like second class citizens.

Islam, as a faith, can be tolerant and enlightening, as can all faiths, for the Teachings are the same.

13. Absolutely
I don't think the counter-protesting families are very far from Cindy in their opinions. They seem to get along quite well. These folks deserve our respect and consolation for their loss.

5. he doesn't leave the base
Did you catch that? The dil's husband doesn't actually go out, he stays on base. Gee, does she not get that it's because it's TOO DANGEROUS. Gads.

The mother did seem exceptionally nice. I think we probably need to remember that, these are nice people who are just brainwashed and uninformed. It's okay to "free the Iraqis", but when it was Kosovo, the Republican policy was "no American interest" and "we don't nation build".

7. Also important to remember that her sons are alive
It's Ms. Pruett, with the four sons in Iraq? They are all alive. Unlike Cindy's son.

8. They're argument just goes round and round ......
Edited on Fri Aug-26-05 06:36 PM by doublethink
would never hold up in a real court of law. Exhibit A: Reason for Invading .. WMD's .. not 'freeing the Iraqi people' Exhibit B: No WMD's found. Exhibit C: Skewed Intelligence (lies) caused invasion. Exhibit D: Keep perpetuating the propaganda, make up other reasons why we are in Iraq. So on and so forth.
The womans daughter stated 'why doesn't the media show all the good things going on in Iraq'? ...... uhhh maybe because it isn't Disneyland over there? Ya think? Having the Media leave the 'Green Zone' isn't like going from 'fantasy land' to 'tomorrow land' ...... geesh .. Peace. :)

on edit: Maybe that's the problem, too many trips to Disneyland over here for the 'war supporters' ..... fantasy land, tomorrow land, never never land, they can't distinguish reality from fiction anymore, you know ..... depleted uranium land .... :freak:

9. I agree
I couldn't help but notice that she had a sense of sadness about her.
Her statements about Cindy were kind & sincere. But her sadness seemed overwhelming.

She said that she didn't want to be a poster-girl for anyone. I believed her when she said that. I think that she knows that she is being used by shrub.

True enough she supports this awful & illegal war, but unlike the freepers she has skin in the game & treats others respectfully.

She said that if something did happen to one of her sons, she would continue to support the war. Something tells me, though, that inside she may be feeling something completely differently.

She has been respectful, I believe that that respect should be returned to her.

11. her sadness may be that she is pro-war, but didn't want to become an icon
for Bush

She just wanted to support quietly and with her family. Now Bush has forced her to stay "perky" while her family is in Iraq. Kina harsh.
