Barnes & Noble - Santorum Debacle |
|
Received this reply from B&N regarding my critical e-mail to them:
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. I appreciate having the opportunity to clarify the situation regarding Senator Santorum's signing at our Wilmington bookstore:
Barnes & Noble did not remove the students from the store, and we regret what happened. A law enforcement officer took control of the situation and acted on his own. He physically removed the students without talking with us or notifying our store managers beforehand. We do not agree with the actions of this officer and feel the situation was mishandled.
Sincerely,
Barnes & Noble, Inc.
Regarding B&N, I consider this situation closed. While I would not have arranged for a signing for this madman, this is the nature of the book biz. At least they played no role, they claim, in the treatment of the students.
That said, I hope that trooper is fired, ideally arrested for something, though goodness knows what. He was going to make up charges against the students and their parents; perhaps the DA in Wilmington should do the same with him.

1. I've posted this several times - B&N is not to blame for what happened |

It's expected that some sort of guard would be hired for the Santorum book signing cause let's face it - he's a repuke freak. But that off-duty DelState police officer took it upon himself to harass those girls and treat them like they were some sort of criminal. He also told them that supposively not only did the book store ban them but also the neighboring Concord Mall.
If anyone should be held accountable it should be the off-duty police officer and pressure should be put on the DelState police to have him repreminanded

I guess that would make it a federal case, unless some state or local laws apply.
