PBS is dead. Bill Moyers, we need you! |
|
Is the "Journal Editorial Report" new? I just saw a few minutes of it and the panel was a bunch of totally reactionary middle aged white men going on about the great sucess in Iraq and the wonderful constitution.
The guy with the "women couldn't vote in the US untill 1900" quote was there and defended it. There was no hint of objectivity and it sounded like Fox.
Another letter to write. (and another check not to write).

3. Agree that the Journal Editorial Report sucks, but not PBS |

Can't beat the kids' programs, Jim Lehrer, Washington Week, NOW, Frontline, Wide Angle, POV, plus many of their documentary specials. Their news programs are about as balanced and objective as you're going to get, and I have urged all of my Republican friends to "just say no" to Fox, and watch Jim Lehrer, which really tries to include all voices. Heck, even the conservative leaning "McLachlin Group" is a hoot to watch -- plus, that was where the Karl Rove story was broken. I don't mind hearing conservative viewpoints, unless there's no one there to say "yeah, but . . ." That Journal Editorial Report is so witless, I don't see it lasting too long . . . It's a right wing government subsidy, pure and simple.

They run stuff that you don't get ordinarily like international news, even El Jazeera, and music videos. A lot of their musical videos are stuff you probably wouldn't be interested in. They will be running a US news program soon from what I understand. They are very Buddhist, I think, although they don't make it known. It seems they could use some money to improve their programming.
On edit I forgot to add that they don't have commercials so I assume that their funding comes from contributions.
