3. A very good analysis of our current debacle...
..."no good options" is a pleasant way to say we have screwed this pooch up as bad as we can.

What "*" has done to America is treasonous...

5. No. We tell them to give their lives for whatever we want.
They're just peons anyway.

The true scorn from the ruling class of anyone getting in the way of the capricious and reckless maneuvers of the moment is incredible. How dare they question their betters, even if it's a question of their death.

6. I haven't read this yet, but just off the cuff, no one should
be giving their lives without a really compelling purpose to do so. I know we were attacked on 911, but it was because our rogue government in situ ignored all the warnings. There was absolutely no reason to deploy troops. If it was Osama they wanted, they could have sent special ops to get him with no problem, or even told their Saudi buddies to turn him over.IMHO

Would we have invaded and blown up upstate new york in search of timothy mcViegh if he hadn't been caught so soon in Oklahoma? (probably a flawed analogy but you catch my drift)

9. Female soldiers are risking their lives to protect the
installation of a government in which half the population, females, have no right to participate.

I'm a Persian Gulf War veteran and it irritated me a little during the Persian Gulf War that the coalition was formed to re-establish the Kuwaiti government, a government in which half the population, Kuwaiti females, had no right to participate.

What's happening in Iraq takes me far beyond being irritated...it pisses me off to no end!

10. We're fighting for an Ayatollah, not freedom.
That resonates with the republican-leaning people I know. Islamic state? Merely shows that they can be tolerant in wishing for that religion the same thing they wish for Christianity in the United States. But start talking about The Ayatollah, and they finally get it.
