1. Hit the poll on the page |
|
asking whether his combat record should be taken into account. Over 60% are saying NO, but then it is Colorado home state of the Rushdooney Dominionists.

Air Force Officer Accused Of Vandalism Is Combat Veteran Lawyer Says Charges Should Be 'Viewed In Context'
POSTED: 11:06 am MDT August 23, 2005 UPDATED: 5:11 pm MDT August 23, 2005
DENVER -- An Air Force officer accused of vandalizing bumper stickers that support President Bush has been reassigned to a non-supervisory position, a military spokesman said Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Alexis Fecteau faces criminal mischief charges for allegedly blacking out Bush bumper stickers on cars at Denver International Airport and then spray-painting an expletive over them.
Fecteau was reassigned on Aug. 10, said Col. Dave Cannon, a spokesman for the Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base. Fecteau had been director of operations for reserve forces at the National Security Space Institute at the base, supervising 11 full-time and 30 part-time reservists.
-snip- Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said Fecteau is suspected of painting over Bush bumper stickers and then spray-painting an expletive and the president's name on at least 10 vehicles at Denver International Airport between June and December.
-snip- He declined to answer any questions about his client's possible motives.
The Air Force declined to say whether Fecteau remained in his post.
"It would be in error to say the Air Force has done nothing," Col. Dave Cannon said.

Basically the man deep-sixed his career to vandalize Bush bumper stickers? He must've felt pretty strongly about it.
And this wasn't a little peon.

4. I wonder if there is a rash |
|
of veterans returning who commit this kind of vandalism if the gungho chickenhawks will finally wakeup and realize that maybe war is not such a glorious enterprise afterall, and maybe the people who actually fight the wars (instead of just blather about them) aren't such big Bush supporters like rightwing media wants America to think. And there doesn't have to be vandalism. Just veterans who will speak up. LIke Paul Hackett. He has credibility Hannity will never have. More stories like these and even the Kool-Aid drinkers may realize that they've been conned. What will Patriotic Mom Tammy Pruett do if one of her sons comes back and doesn't repeat the PR firm's script on the glories of war? What does Tammy do then? Believe her son...or stick to the script? Believe the soldier who's been to war? Or the suits who make their money from pushing Bush's agenda? Should be an easy decision.

...if ANYONE has the right to "snap" at the sight of a Bush bumper sticker, someone who has served in his wars certainly does. Hell, I snap when I see a Bushbot (though I haven't vandelized anything) advertizing their stupidity.

15. I don't believe in karma, but I still wouldn't want my car vandalized. |

What this guy did was wrong. Probably the poor guy just snapped. He's in a better position to snap than most of us when it comes to Commander Fuckup. I've envisioned vandalizing bumper stickers, but I've never actually done it. Every time I envision it, I tell myself, "No, that would be wrong."
Still, who knows what this guy saw that made him snap? Perhaps that should be taken into consideration. Still, it wasn't a good thing to do.

10. Military and Vets are AUTOMATICLY assumed to be PRO Bush and GOP |
|
Because WHO he is, it's a big story. I mean, such persons don't get caught doing petty crimes. And that is really the angle that the media is taking.
But the REAL story is that this is one of MANY actively serving and one of MANY retired Vets, one of MANY connected tot he Military in one form or another... Who don't support BUSH at ALL! Not just a "tad" of a negative feeling. But with so much so, that they would deface such a sticker.. which must belong to someone who VOTED the man into office. THAT is the real story that media can't really point out.
