The sliming of Cindy seems to be backfiring bigtime....
The more they slime her, the more people become vocal about their anger
at Bush's vanity war, and the lower his approval polls sink.

It's not too surprising, really. Attacking a woman whose son died for
Bush's lies doesn't sit well with people. Well, who'd a thunk it? :eyes:

1. Yes, it won't sit well
Bush has NO concrete reasons for sending our kids to Iraq. Where is OBL?

6. The Bush Slime-machine seems to have only one speed--ON
They just went into automatic attack mode when Cindy started to have
an impact, never imagining how disgusting it looks.

4. Seems like the Right is having a meltdown
Between * and Pat Robertson and Ann Coulter et. al. Of course their attempts to smear Sheehan aren't working. She's not a candidate or public figure. Go Cindy!!

10. Buchanan and Coulter both made very foolish remarks...
I can't wait for Coulter's next visit to NYC!

These folks don't seem to know when to stop and make an attempt to
look like some sort of reasonable, decent human being. They just keep
on spewing.

Limbaugh seems to have gone off the deep end as well.

12. Yes, I loved NYC when I visited
She must have been out of her mind to call New Yorkers cowards. I hope New Yorkers scream.

18. i love NYC also, I live in CT so it's easy for me to get there often.
She is just angry because most New Yorkers can't stand her president. I was at the GOP convention protests last year and the convention attendees were NOT made to feel welcome. Huge anti-bush, anti-Republican banners were hanging from buildings EVERYWHERE. People were walking around Ground Zero memorial with signs saying "GOP GO HOME". THis is why she says this.

5. But the thing you don't see
Is the silent disapproval. Most nice decent people who aren't politically charged aren't going to say anything...they will just sit back and watch.
However, that doesn't mean they aren't taking notes and when polled, will give honest opinions.
Those are the people Bush needs to be fearful of.

7. Personally I can't listen to Rush, Hannity or O'Reilly anyway
But I've listened to their statements about Cindy and it has absolutely infuriated me. These people should be held accountable for their slander, libel and instigating hatred. At the minimum, all of them should be thrown off the airwaves. If the blind sheep continue listening to the pure vomit they've been spewing about a mother who gave the ultimate sacrifice to this country, I'm ready to divide the country and stop living with such horrible people.

I was never prouder than when my relative protested Bush outside of the Idaho Nampa Civic Center with a picture of her Marine son who had just left for his 2nd tour of Iraq.

These are American mothers.

23. like the Schiavo thing, they don't understand the feelings of real people
all of us know we could one day be in such a position as Ms. Schiavo's husband and we really don't know what we'd do but we do know we would not want the interference of freaking politicians. With Ms. Sheehan, once again they are not understanding the mood of the country and it backfiring bigtime.

29. Bushco thinks everything is spin.....
as this wonderful editorial (from a paper in Mississippi!) points out, and
doesn't seem to be aware real people exist.

http://clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050826/OPINION/508260376/1166

Bushco is narcissistic, not unlike Bush himself responding to Sheehan by
saying he needs to get on with his life.

It's not all about you, Bushco!

17. How many times
have the rightwingnutjobs said over and over, "They're fighting for our freedoms" (which makes no sense since which of our freedoms were being trampled on by Iraq)? Yet they don't want to give her the freedom to speak her mind about the war and the needless death of her son. She has earned the right to speak unlike the "under served" chickenhawks that beat the drums for this war. She gave her child to fight this fraudulent war and he's never coming home.
If she were to say her sacrifice was an honor to our dear leader for taking us to the main front on terrorism, they would love her and use her like they did Lisa Beamer.
How dare they speak about her except to say "I'm terribly sorry for your unspeakable loss." ????

19. Cindy took them by surprise. They haven't even begun the campaign
to make Cindy the subject of total scorn and ridicule yet. Cindy has made a lot of statements. The standard weapon of rove/bush is to use a persons public statements to self destruct them. The basic elements of the campaign have begun to emerge on fox news reports already.

21. I see your point about her limited public statements up to now....
but I still think the fact that she is an ordinary person whose son has
died because of Bush will continue to sour people against those
doing the attacking.

26. What the Repubs are doing reminds me of a Star Trek:TNG episode...
where the more power they put into doing something (can't remember what), the more it boomerangs and causes damage to the Enterprise.
