Are Cindy and the anti-war protesters safe from Katrina?
What are their plan for this hurricane. I hope the CUers nearby can help them and give them cover.

1. They are in west Texas....
Much closer to New Mexico than Louisiana. Miles away from hurricane territory.

2. Texans didn't refer to that as west Texas when I lived there...
but then no one had any reason to refer to Crawford back then either.

6. Crawford is NOT West Texas. Take a look at a map, please.
Crawford is almost dead center in the middle of the state and actually last time I checked we are far closer to the Louisiana border than the New Mexico border, I'll admit though it's been a while since I looked at a map.

I can make the drive to Crawford from Dallas blindfolded and same with going to Louisiana.

Peace.

PS/try to find Jim Hightower's speech that he gave at the VFP Nat'l Convention earlier this month. It is a treat and a treasure.

West Texas has tumbleweeds, none here in the CenTex area.

8. I don't know why, but maybe he meant something special.
Sure do miss him, but I'm sure in spirit he is really close by.

4. The more West Katrina goes
before veering north is the more likely Texas will get hit with a big one, but I doubt if West Texas will be affected. It's looking more like Texas by the hour although NOAA still says otherwise. Loads of time before anyone really knows where she'll land.

9. Don't forget how big Texas is.
Crawford is over 200 miles for the coast. And over three hundred miles from the Louisiana coast. It is approximately 600 miles from the closest possible landfall for this hurricane. Of course, we may make a hurricane of our own!

5. totally land locked
Crawford is safe from hurricanes. Tornadoes however, are another story. But it's not really tornado season.

10. At worst, they'll probably get a little piece of the storm by mid-week

as it breaks up; and Lord knows, that area needs some rain anyway.

However, by then, they'll be breaking camp to do their 3-pronged bus tour leading up to the big one in DC September 24.
