How can someone say that they're "pro-war"?
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 07:38 PM by ...of J.Temperance
I've just heard the news update, on BBC Radio 5 Live. They said that the two protests were still going on outside the Chimp's pig farm in Crawford. They said one protest was "anti-war" and the other protest was "pro-war"...

How can anyone consider themselves "pro-war". Who in the final analysis can actually say that they LIKE war?

Bloody hell, we've REALLY gone thru the Looking Glass haven't we?

1. That's why they keep saying they "support the troops" instead.
Whatever that is supposed to mean.

4. They're pro someone
else going to fight their war though or there wouldn't be so many of them left with keyboards or microphones to say the stuff they do.
War is a failure of diplomacy. Don't remember who said that but it's what happens when people can't find another viable solution, it's the end.

6. They really don't care, it's all about winning for them.
Right or wrong, what it boils down to, for them, is winning. That's all they care about. I've heard repugs say they know chimpy stole the election in 2000 and they don't care. IT'S ALL ABOUT WINNING, AT ANY COST! And the end justifies the means, don't forget that!

7. the opposite of someone saying they are pro-social programs.
government has to spend money at times to keep the economy going. Some people just prefer war to public schools. The wars make the rich richer (especially when they don't pay the bills for war and leave it to government).

I personally thing that government policy should be there to benefit all. And that there is no excuse for a war unless it is defensive Or humanitarian.

8. They are manipulated puppets, who want easy answers.
The world is black and white. The Earth is 10,000 years old. They are scared. They are in danger of being destroyed economically - no pension, no manufacturing jobs. They cling to one thing: That they can believe their government. Sad.

9. "pro-war "does not in this context mean that you are in love with war
any more than being "pro-abortion" means that you just can't wait to get one.

The "pro-war" camp believes that we are doing good in Iraq. How they can think that is beyond me, but I believe that is what most of them think. The anti-war folks generally think that the war is a criminal endeavor and doing no good at all. They are grounded in reality.

And then we have the sort of muddled middle: the war was a big mistake, but we have to fix up this mess we made, so the war must go on. I have to put these folks over in the pro-war side: they think that while currently we are not doing any good there, with just the right recipe we could do good. Any day now, with these folks, it will all be good. As their fantasy of a future good outcome requires continuing the carnage today: they are pro-war even if they think they are anti-war.

Now of course lots of people do actually love war - generally from a safe distance. There are certainly quite a few of those on the "pro- war" side. War is certainly fascinating.

10. Yes, there really are pro-war people out there
people who have never seen it.

"I am sick and tired of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
War is hell." - William Tecumsah Sherman

11. Well if they LIKE war SO much, they should put a damn uniform on
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 08:16 PM by ...of J.Temperance
I'm getting sick and tired of these idiot robots. If they love war, if they love whats happening in Iraq...then they should just shut up and join up and GO...GO to the war...and as a gesture of goodwill, I'll EVEN buy the LOT of them a years supply of Depends, which they'll OBVIOUSLY need once they're in a real life war and not some fantasyland war that they fight in their heads.

If they think that whats happening in Iraq is great and things are going so well, they should GO to Iraq and see that in actual fact Chimp and his Poodle have created a hell on earth there. And now a former secular country is going into an Islamic ruled country, with un-Democratic laws and women being turned into second-class citizens.

Mrs. Sheehan's protest is anti-war, because her son died for a lie, he died for NOTHING, she has a RIGHT to protest the bastard in Crawford, her son is DEAD because of the bastards lies. Her son's not coming back, he can't "get on with his life."

The other protest is a PRO-BUSH one, it's ALL about supporting Bush, because the shitheads who are there are in the Cult of Bush, it's a personality cult, they're NO different than the Branch Davidians or the Jim Jones bunch. The pro-Bush protest don't give a hoot about the troops.

Oh, I feel SO much better now I've got that off my chest.

12. That's what the Texas news reporter called them on NPR's ATC...
...during the 5:00pm Newscast. I say great, finally they are calling a spade a spade.

(I hope that expression doesn't have racial overtones, because that's NOT how I meant it if it does).
