4. They're probably too busy to get on

The current US Navy forecast (picked up on another board) is for wind of almost 150 sustained, 175 in gusts (statute). That's is borderline Category Five, and the HPC is suggesint Cat 5 is possible.

The track is very close to worse case, with NE quadrant winds pushing the Gulf inland.

So we're talking Hurricane Betsy, at least.

According to my mom, the gas stations are running out of fuel, and so many people are making last minute purchases that you can't use a credit or debit card (they'v overloaded the networks).

The major highways were put on one-way out of town (including the Intersates) and people started leaving today after last night's forecsts came out late (kudo's to Maddy in MS for posting the model projection tracks yesterday afternoon).

They're probably battening down and getting ready to leave.

5. I've got 3 Crescent City residents coming to stay with us tomorrow!
I'm trying to get 2 of them onto DU. The 3rd is a confirmed Repub, but she will be really outnumbered at this house, and will have to conform. One of the first 2 already has his reservations for the Peace Train to Washington for Sept. 24th, and says Cindy Sheehan is supposed to be on the train. He will be taking part in the march. I have every confidence he will meet funkybutt on the train, and between me and funkybutt, this guy will be DUing before he knows it....

But this is probably a little far. It's completely calm, clear and beautiful here tonight, probably about 60 degrees. Y'all come.
