Since WHEN does trying to end the killing of our troops mean ANTI-TROOPS?? |
|
Okay. I've had enough. I just slogged through a heartbreaking article on www.komotv.com all about a woman whose three sons will soon be together serving in Iraq. It's very heartwrenching. But.. the woman goes on to say that she'd LOVE to be there counter-protesting against CINDY, because the mother SUPPORTS the troops!
I read an editorial from the Deputy Editor of WSJ today. He called the people who SUPPORT the troops the "silent majority", using those that are now trying to end the bloodshed OF the troops as their foil. HIs logic is totally screwed up, as he is using people who send care packages to the troops against those that are protesting in Crawford, and folks like Tom Hayden who are tyring to create a timeline to END the killing of our troops.
I've watched the Women In Black, who quietly protest for peace, being harrassed in my small town every week by assholes with giant American flags and signs saying the THEY support the troops, but these women do not. One man even wrote to the paper to comment how wonderful it is that 90% of people driving by THEIR corner obviously SUPPORT the troops, unlike the people on the other corner who hate the troops and America.
I've fucking had it. I've had it with the stupid ass "journalists" on TV who haven't a CLUE what supporting the troops means. Obviously, unless they are blowing someone in the White House, these "journalists" have some sort of degree or experience in their field... why is it IMPOSSIBLE for them to discern what Cindy's message is... or what we've ALL been protesting for the past 3 years?? Our message has NEVER been that we hate the troops, or that we wish them harm. How many DUers here have sent care packages to the troops, consoled a fellow DUer on the loss of a family member in Iraq, and HOW MANY of the DUers are VETERANS themselves? We are a microcosm of the entire Democratic Party, and we are representative of those that do not support the war, but still support the troops.
I am DAMN SICK AND TIRED of OUR DEMOCRATIC "leaders" who refuse to freakin' step up and STOP LETTING THEM DEFINE THIS!!!! I'm really damn sorry that they muzzled Howard Dean... and Wes Clark... two people that really told it like it is.

1. Well I can't say for sure |
|
but maybe it's 'anti-troops' because they were sent over there to die. Then they can give the family a posthumous medal, they can have a funeral with full honors and lower the jobless rate a bit.

2. Man, I saw those SOBs on CBS4 tonight... |

Their stupid "Freedumb Isn't Free" and "Support The Troops" signs are so hollow. It's the same crap that Maximum Leader General Chimpy McStuffedcrotch rams down our throats every time he tries to justify this illegal and immoral war.
It makes me sick to my stomach.

what else is new, we have to keep on slugging. BTW, I spent about 55 bucks on a care package to a trooper in Afghanistan, it was great to know I can really help them, I can't wait to hear back from him....I told him to let me know what they want, what they need. I am going to keep doing it at least once a quarter or so. BTW, anger is good, it is an awesome tool for us to use, fuck the sweetness and light BS, lets get pissed!

4. It looks like "support the troops" has become a slogan |

that covers up the fact that not all wars are just or necessary. The frantic parents of children who are in the military need to justify why they are going to be killed.

6. They pretend that it's a morale thing. |

That by Ms. Sheehan protesting the war, the soldiers will get all depressed and think that nobody likes them.
Yes, it's childish and simplistic, but that's their story, and they're sticking to it.

People who protest the war are called anti American, traitors, non troop supporters, etc. I caught a little bit of the Cindy story on CNN and some idiot made a remark about her protesting the death of her son!
We are not anti USA or anti troops. We just want them to come home to their families where they belong.

If this was Clinton waging this war with these results....how would the people of MFA and FR be reacting? You don't think they'd be screaming for the troops to come home and for the impeachment of Clinton?
You betcha. The difference is, we'd still be joining them in calling for the troops to come home and we'd be looking to impeach hom, too. Of course, this is a hypothetical and we know that Clinton would never have got us into this mess to begin with. The point is, it's always politics with the Right. They support wars when their politicians start them and they are against them when Democrats do (even if there is a legitimate, humanitarian foundation to it, as in Kosovo).
These people are the un-Americans. They pledge alleigence to the Bush-Republican Party, not the United States of America.
What was the purpose of this ridiculous pro-war rally today? To keep the troops in harm's way while the state of Iraq dissolves into anarchy? To "stay the course" because more need to die because others have died already? This was the absurd logic in the late 60's that kept us in VietNam.....we lost an additional 10,000 Americans to accommodate these same pro-war idiots that didn't understand the war was unwinnable.
I have just one question for these morons.....how many Americans have to die first before they will agree that it is time to leave? Everybody's got a number....what is theirs?

Apparently I hated my husband and all his friends when they were in Iraq. I should have hoped he died instead so I could get money and a flag at his funeral and he could be a hero. And then he would have been honoring those who died before him. :sarcasm:
Or what-the-fuck-ever. Their logic is so twisted I can't make any sense of it.

The first thing we need to do is stop calling them troops and say what they really are the sons and daughters of americans. Not faceless armed machines but real live young people whose lives should be ahead of them and not thrown away for profit in some foreign desert. I would rather have these kids here irritating me with their loud music than dying for nothing there. WE WANT THEM HOME NOW!
