Did anyone else see a mini-series that starts with a hurricane ?
It was on one of the cable channels about 3 months ago, although I think it must have been produced a few years back. Anyway, a hurricane badly damages a critical oil refining complex in Louisiana. This is the first step in an energy crisis that totally alters the world economy. It was one of those, documentary style dramas. It wasn’t that good. But I couldn’t help but thinking of it as a hurricane barrels down on Louisiana and oil is all ready up $70.

Anyone remember what it is called ?

2. I think I saw at least part of it........
but the one I saw happened to a refinery in Texas? Two ships tried to get through the channel at the same time, collided and became stuck there blocking the refineries further up the channel.
You're correct, it wasn't that good but the premise rang true. Katrina could foul things up in a very similar fashion. Imagine if the gulf of the Mississippi were to become unnavigable? Sheeeeeeit!

4. no that's the one but...
The ship collison happens latter. Cause by the increased tanker traffic because of the first problem, which was the storm.

5. That's it
Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) June 9, 2005 -- The FX Network aired the TV movie “Oil Storm” this past Sunday night. “America’s lifeline has been severed” sets up the over all theme of this fictional movie that was shot in a documentary style.

It begins with a tropical storm that rips through the gulf coast and destroys not only homes and businesses of New Orleans, but also the drilling rigs just off of the coast, the refineries and the pipelines that oil tankers dock with to pump millions of barrels of oil. This destruction causes oil prices to immediately jump to $70 a barrel, then other problems occur, and eventually oil reaches $130 a barrel. This wreaks havoc on the stock market. Long lines of panic stricken people vie for gasoline as the trucking industry begins to shut down with gas prices rising above $7 per gallon. Store shelves empty as costs of transporting products and food are too high. Winter sets in and heating homes is far too expensive for many. Elderly and homeless deaths rise. Farmers loose subsidies to the cost of the military while nationwide frustration turns to riots and chaos.

6. Bush's "perfect storm".........
I wonder where he'll hide this time? This has all the potential of being a worse scenario that 9/11, loss of life and economic impact wise anyway, if that's possible.
Could this be the other "Pearl Harbor" type event that gets the country rallying around the chimp in chief again? He's always been a lucky SOB all his life, things just seem to fall in his lap, of course it all comes at the misery and misfortune of others. Or could this add the final nail to his coffin? The implications here are staggering.

7. Of course, if it causes a worse scenario than 9/11, Bush and the neocon
death cult will immediately determine that God is a terrorist and thus heaven must be invaded and bombed immediately.
